Warning. I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing so one, I end this post with a question for those who do know and two, it's not a good idea to do stuff when you have absolutely no idea what you're doing but, this installation is expendable so here goes:

I decided to see if I could somehow create my own recognition manual without the greatest modding skills. I somehow succeeded. That is, I am well happy so far but I see the need to keep working on it.

So this is what I've done so far:

(backed up the menu file)

Imported an ingame screenshot to MS Paint (I told you this was going to be dirty) where I cropped it and added text. Saved as png.

Went to google for some online image converters and found one that gave me the image as tga.

Added the tga file to the gui folder

Shamelessly ripped off a piece of menu_1024x768.ini code that someone else had made for their own custom made draggable images to fit the name and location of the new file and to have it in the attack scope view and set display = 0 to preserve the original aspect ratio and size without any further hassle.

Now because I simply ripped off a piece of code I knew worked, instead of taking courses in programming, it is of no surprise the result, while it shows and is crisp and clear and all, could do with more work. Issues are, the image hides behind much of the other graphics, if I want an image for all ships then I'd need a library uboat, not an attack uboat.

I'm thinking of converting the screenshots of the various ships to old school black/white spy footage of various quality and it would be awesome if this was all collected in some kind of in game book form. How to do that I am utterly clueless.

Anyone having such an ingame book/collection or is interested in making one for SH-games?
