I'm struggling to slightly reshape VIIB 01 main conning tower mesh in order to match historically accurate appearance.

I've exported the mesh correctly but I'm really missing a basic skills in Wings3D program...:wah:
If this doesn't require too much efforts , I was wondering if you could help me a bit?

Why not just take the other VII B conning tower, like in your signature, and remove the tower at the rear? You'll be left with a more accurate VII B turm.

Yes, I've already done that but there are some issues (textures and teleport related CTD), plus, it also appears that the tower is somewhat longer than it should be...

I think I did the 3D modeling but to fix textures is a different story...:hmmm:

Anyone knows something about texture remapping?:hmmm:

Do you already know how to open up the texture files for editing?

Yes...I only have GIMP2...:hmm2:

Yes...I only have GIMP2...:hmm2:

So you can edit the textures. What are you unsure on, the particular sort of edit you need?

Well, already existing textures for this 3D model are all messed up after reshaping and I dont know hot to match/map them correctly...

See wintergarden fence and stairs shadows on the pic...

I have an idea I might be able to try tomorrow. Will update then.

Thanks!
I could also use some help from someone with some modest 3D modeling skills...:yep:

Hi Vecko, texture mapping is distorted because after altering 3D meshes geometry you also need redoing the UV map (ie the 2D unwrapping) of the area(s) whose shape was altered. I am quite busy right now, but if you send me the conning tower edited by you (in obj format) fixing its UV map should be a quick task

Thanks god you're still here Gap! :yeah:

Is there any chance that you can make few more touch ups on this tower in order to achieve appearance more like most of VII B towers, please? :06:

I was trying only to :
- edit rear side angle (I did something, but still it's not what it should be)
- remove rod antenna slot (I tried to "mirror opposite side of the conning tower but this is just to much complicated for me )
- Edit fences to match new tower (I think I did that more or less OK)...

If you could do this, all credits for old VIIC tower on type VIIB annoyance will go exclusively to YOU! :yeah::yeah:

I could upload obj files together with several real VIIB pictures for a reference , if that's OK with you?:)
