Okay, so I've been trying to finish the Western Approaches campaign, but every second patrol on the convoy route sees me being sunk. Now, it would be nice if there were other U-boats there to help otherwhelm the escorts, but every time I send a contact report, I'm told that there are no other boats in range. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there something I'm missing?

Sorry for the late reply Fitz, but thank you for coming to my aid :salute:

I'll post my mod list ASAP in the morning, though I'm not sure what effect any mods would be having on the patcher.

To give you a general idea until the morning, my list is based on TWoS :)

Hmm. Oddly enough, a Wolfpack was formed when I sent a contact report with no contacts. So it does seem to be workingm just not when I need it to.

Is there any way of changing the chances of forming a Wolfpack? That would come in handy.

I memory serves me well, when we discussed the u-boat radio call for reinforcement patch (or whatever is called), TDW planned making wolfpack spawning chance user configurable :hmm2:

"The percentege chance BDU will send a contact report back upon receipt of a contact report from player". You will find this in Option file editer under "radio".
This may regulate the wolfpack spawning, or? :hmmm:

I dont think so... That option controls this (I think)...

I guess you guys are aware that wolf packs spawning will not occur "instantly" . IIRC it will take something like 24h for wolfpack to form...This means that you should stay with convoy/contact at least that long and this is something which most of the players just wont do (including my self :)).
I've noticed that when I receive positive wolfpack respond from BdU, I will commonly meet other U-boats in my area, but there wont be much use of it because, in most cases, my contact with convoy would already been broken.

It seems that redirected/spawned U-bats will home in to your location and not to reported contact locations...

In short, if you have a patience to stay with contact for at least 24h with TC no higher that x64 (max TWoS TC if contact is detected in your area) and positive wolfpack respond is received, several U-boats will arive to your arrea and engage the contact...:yep:

Anyone know how often I need to use the "Send contact report " when I shadow a convoy? Is there any reactivation time after each sending? Does the likelihood of a wolfpack increased if I send more often? :salute:

I sent a contact report once every hour for around 12 hours in my most recent patrol, and a Wolfpack eventually formed.

Granted, the silly sod who came to help me didn't even see the convoy... the unescorted convoy with a 17,000 ton tanker in it...

At least I got to sink it and raise my score to 98,000 tons :woot:
