During patrols, I love to do paperwork. It simply enhances immersion.
Inspired by M4XDmG's German "Kriegstagebuch" template (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=201694) I've created two templates for a typical U.S. submarine deck log.
My templates are based on the deck log photos of the U.S.S. Flier (SS-250), which are shown here (http://www.ussflierproject.com/topics/where-was-flier-66-years-ago-today/), although I don't have the exact fonts used. But it's close enough.
One PDF is for handwriting, the other for typewriting. To use, download and print.
Entries are usually made every 4 hours, i.e. 0000-0400, 0400-0800, 0800-1200, 1200-1600, 1600-2000, 2000-0000. You can see it here very well (http://www.ussflierproject.com/2010/10/the-catch-up-decklogs/). However, the U.S.S. Flier also has some pages where one entry is for a longer time, so I guess this was just a convention which could be changed when needed (or when there was no time for proper logging).
