Could someone point me in the right direction in regards to translating FOTRS 2.0 into English. I think the community would appreciate it and I would like to try. I am not sure what all I have to do as far as permissions and I don't really know what has to be done to what files other than compiling an English menu.

I can't be of any help but I want to encourage you to do this. I understand FOTRS 2.0 is for v1.4 only and not U-Boat Missions? Still worth doing.

FOTRS v2 is for SH4 14, because it seems this version is better for multiplayer.
You can take FOTRSv13 and see what files were changed for english. The sound is no problem. The radio messages, mission orders, campaign texts, etc, must be traslated.
BTW, I try FOTRS v2 and I see great new ships, with new textures. But the campaign and other items are aprox. the same as v13. No great changes and no exceptional improvements in v2. In fact, it seems better to import the new ships in FOTRS v13 (or other supermod), than use SH4 14 for this supermod.

Maybe what Fitz says is a better idea. Maybe just importing the ships and other minor improvments into 1.2/1.5 would be the best solution instead of trying to translate everything. I will chew on it while I'm at work this week and see what I can do this weekend. I really would like to import some of the ships into TMO also but I have to think about it.

I agree wholeheartedly with fitzcarraldo on his idea. As a matter of fact I'm currently the the ships from FOTRS v1.3 with TMO v2.5. They really add some eye candy to the game. I've a friend who was into modding games and he was nice enough to make a copy of the ships for me. :yeah:

FOTRS is the most beautiful mod ever made for SH4 and reminds me of the graphics quality of GWX in SH3. Is it possible to make a mod that imports the ships into TMO without making any other changes to TMO or the underlying game?

I would have to say yes, as I'm using the ships from v1.3 right now. Of course, I don't have enough knowledge in this area to know exactly changes were made to the game.

You should make the changes available to Subsim. I have added a few ships myself from 1.2 but they will only show up in the random campaign layers. I'm just to tech challenged to add them to the other campaign layers.
I always thought that the biggest drawback to SH4 was the limited number of ship types available as targets. It gets tiresome always sinking the same old Buzyun's and Haruna's day in and day out! LOL! It's to bad the Japanese Merchant Marine mod never came to fruition. It would have been nice.

The instructions are clear and also you can add SH3 ships with it. Note SH3 could have problems with sinking mechanics so they could need some extra edition.

I would be more then willing to share with the rest of you and the my Subsim brethren. The only reservation I have is I don't want to ruffle anybody feathers because I'm uploading someone else's mod or part of one. This is originally part of AOTD Madmax's modding and he should be asked for permission first should he not? I don't know if he is around these forums anymore.

FitzcarraldoThere is no need for any of this, as the mod I'm referring to can easily be added to SH4 via the JSGME. Be aware that these ships being added are only merchants as far as I know. It would be nice to see all the ships from FOTRS 2.0 being added to TMO or whatever after all the remaking of the ships he did fo his 2.0 mod. One other thing I should mention is these ships I'm talking about work very well in the campaign layers of SH4. I see them more than the original ships in the game.
