View Full Version : Computer doesn't realise that SH5 is installed

When, earlier, I tried to uninstall SH5, the disc said 'No Silent Hunter 5 installation detected', and when I start up SH5, the computer tells me 'Administrator permission required, publisher unknown'. The game itself still runs perfectly, though, and UPlay knows that it's installed. Does anyone know what's going on here, and how it can be fixed?

I would try unsinstall Uplay, after that the reg files with ccleaner, then restart, install Uplay again, and look, what will happen.

Thanks Hecki, just wondering though, would uninstalling and reinstalling Uplay delete or alter any of SH5's files? And where can I find these reg files?

Ccleaner (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CCleaner) will find the reg-files for itself :)

If this "Revo Uninstaller Pro" 15 day freeware downloaded and tried to install Uninstall can delete all the values stored in the registry and can be installed without any problems again when you re-install when you install before you use it again.:)

Silent Hunter 5 and the Ubisoft Game Launcher can easily be uninstalled from the Control Panel Programme's and Features quite safely. The game has to be uninstalled from a recognized uninstaller and cannot be uninstalled from the dvd.
You will be given the option to keep your saved games folder if you wish. If you do not wish to keep this it is still worth making a copy of the Career History as this will save you from having to select the tutorial now or in the future.

A registry cleaner like the free Ccleaner should then be used and followed by a reboot.
Thanks Hecki, just wondering though, would uninstalling and reinstalling Uplay delete or alter any of SH5's files? Uninstalling Uplay will only uninstall the Ubisoft Game Launcher.

Run your applications as administrators: JSGME > TDW's Generc File Patcher > TDW's Options File Editor Viewer

I'm wonder what's with all this Run as Administrator. We never had to do it before with XP. It seems that from Windows 7 up to 8.1 and now with 10, MS has changed the way we can play SH3, 4, and 5. And I don't think it's only for these 3. I can just imagine what it's like with other older games and software.
Just when you know the game someone comes along and changes the rules. No wonder everyone is having problems.

Not for me, SH5 doesn't turn up in the Control Panel :hmmm:

Hacki, I get that you were trying to help, but your method has just made things 5,000,000,000,000,000% worse.
Now Uplay has decided to rename my account and delete all the games I own, rendering Silent Hunter 5 completely unplayable :/\\!!

Hi GT
The problem that you have with SH5 is without running as administrator the Game Launcher application cause a windows error message.
In LSH3-2015 unless you run SH3Ccommander in administrator it is likely to CTD before reaching the main menu.
The later OS are getting more sophisticated or problematic if you like, and we are running games that were never intended to be run on them.
