View Full Version : SH5 is broken, and I can't fix it

I accidentally screwed up some files while updating TDW's patcher, and now I'm trying to fix it. I couldn't find clean, vanilla versions of sh5.exe, SHCollisions.act, SHSim.act, SHSound.act, SH_NClient.dll, SimData.dll, or CameraManager.act, so I tried reinstalling the game. But the installer won't recognise that I already have a copy of the game installed! So, I installed SH5 on another computer, to act as a 'donor'. But Uplay doesn't seem to have installed properly, and when I try to manually update SH5 to 1.2, it says that no install can be found :/\\!!
Would anyone be able to get me vanilla 1.2 versions of sh5.exe, SHCollisions.act, SHSim.act, SHSound.act, SH_NClient.dll, SimData.dll, and CameraManager.act, or help me in some other way? Thank you.
And I'm definitely backing up those files this time :/\\!!

the most common problem people run into when uninstalling and reinstalling the game is to forget to go in and manually remove the leftover corrupted game files. then the new install gets remixed with these corrupted files and the game doesn't work right.
uninstall only removes "recognized" and unmodded files so those can only be removed manually, just something easily forgotten and something to keep in mind

Run JSGME Tasks > Generate Snapshot of Game Files before any mods are enabled on a clean installation.
When mods are enabled and disabled you can then run > Compare Game Files to Snapshot.
This will show you if any files have changed.
