RFB + RSRD. USS Pike. Where are the planes operators? Or are the bow and stern planes operated from somewhere else?

Also have a question about the weather: which hasn't changed for 12 days (Dec. 8 - 20, 1941). Would it typically remain that steady, with relatively calm seas and no change in wind speed or direction?

Yeah, they should be sitting in those oh-so-comfy metal chairs in the picture. Is your control room showing as fully manned in the crew display? :hmmm:

If you're running on the surface, the planesmen should be on deck acting as lookouts.

Does RFB take that into account and not render them on the surface?

What about the weather? Is it normal for it not to change for nearly two weeks?

I seem to recall a long trip back to Midway that was foul weather all the way. I must have had a storm front traveling with me. Either that or dropping out of high time compression at long intervals meant I was missing the good weather.

There are two missing crew in the control room. When I added them from the main deck the planesmen appeared in their seats. The bow planes will not drop to dive position unless they are manned.

I had a patrol where the weather was very stormy for 3 weeks.

The weather model in SH4 just isn't very well done, imo.

From one of the early pages of the Real Fleet Boat 2 thread:

Also, no planesmen except at GQ? kind of funny for boat to dive when on normal watch without planesmen .Another one of those design decisions we had to make, given the way the game is coded. In reality, two of the lookouts would man the dive planes when the boat submerged. Otherwise, the dive planes would not be manned while the boat was on the surface. The choice, then, was to either add six seamen to the boat's roster that would otherwise not be part of the ship's complement or to leave the planes unmanned, except at GQ. Of course, we went with the latter choice as the lesser of two evils.--LukeFF

Explanation: There is a solid wall between modding and hacking. Modding is fine, hacking is violating the rights of the game developer and Ubi. Modding is changing the parameters of the text files that configure the game engine. When you start changing the .exe files to "correct" the game or modify it in any way you are hacking. The RFB team decided that was a line that they would not cross, in respect for Ubi and the game devs. It also was done to preserve the right to mod future games in a public way that game players could profit from. Violating the rights of game publishers is a great way to be shut out of modding all future games published and shutting us out is horrifically easy to do.

Therefore the choice of the "lesser of two evils."
