Ahoy, mates! I've decided to hit the seas again and am planning on doing a fresh install of SH4 on a Win8.1 box, then RFB with RSRDC_RFB.
Wanted to run the install order by you guys so there are no screw ups:
Install SH4 (DVD) then,
1.4 patch
U-boat addon (that takes me to 1.5, yes?)
RFB mod
RSRDC_RFB

Hey, Sheegeek!
First of all, your order looks perfect, if your DVD is an original 2007 version. If it's newer you might be able to skip a couple of steps.
Install SH4 (DVD) then,
1.4 patch
Yes, unless you have a newer version of the disc, which will already be fully patched.
U-boat addon (that takes me to 1.5, yes?) Yes, unless you have a newer version, which will say 'Gold' and 'U-Boat Missions' on the box, in which case it is complete and ready to go.
RFB mod
RSRDC_RFBYes, unless...no, just "Yes".
Once you have the game patched to v1.5:
RFB_2.0
RFB_2.0_Patch_23April2010
RSRDC_RFB_V575
RSRDC_V5xx_Patch1
Of course, you can add others after these, but this is a basic RFB foundation. If you forget the RFB patch, or it isn't properly enabled, the dive times of the S-class will be horrible.

Tried installing SH4 from DVD on Win8.1 and the DVD gets stuck in a loop. I can access the DVD directory, but after clicking on SH4auto run, or setup, results in the the DVD apparently looping with no install. :/\\!!

Where did you try to install it? Newer versions of Windows seem to dislike us putting things in the 'Program Files' folders. I made a separate folder in the C drive just for games and installed everything there with no problems.

It won't let me get to the install screen. I cleaned the DVD and tried again on win8.1 pro and winXP pro boxes. Both times it gets stuck in a loop. When I tried to access the files it says "not responding." Appears somehow the DVD got corrupted. :o
Update: Found a replacement copy. :)
Can you get as far as seeing a list of files on the DVD?

SH4, RFB and RSRD are all installed and I'm currently headed toward Tokyo! SH4 certainly looks nice on my AMD 8-core system with post processing enabled! Thanks for the help and thanks Aktungbby for the WB.
