I happen to find myself refitting in France at the very end of April 44. I'm wondering, some nice beaches are right around the corner, is it worth a visit? Has anyone sat off Normandy waiting for D-Day? Does anything show up, or should I just head out as directed to my next patrol?:hmm2:

I don't know. But I'm hoping you'll come back and tell me.

Well I'm sitting 30 miles off the beaches at 00:13 on 6/6/44. Weather is clear as a bell, nothing yet. Time to save and tend to my real life! Stay tuned.:-?

I know the Normandy invasion is in SH3, at least with GWX. I also know you don't want to be there, because you'll meet the same fate as the few boats that really did try.

SH4? I don't know if Lurker went that far or not.

I was using the H-39 mod and visited the beaches that day. A couple of unescorted LST's showed up nut nothing else. Course looking back I may have been at the far edge of the invasion site.

Well, I can report now. Dawn broke with nothing in sight. I requested a scout plane which was lost as soon as it cleared the coast, so my spirits went up. After cruising the beaches twice (diving to avoid planes) and seeing nothing I requested another scout plane. Zero, nada, zilch. Again, I was there on my own, not on an assigned patrol. Guess it's time to act like I follow orders and depart the area. RATS!

Well... that's disappointing.
