Hello Texelbo,
that is good news. I followed you old posts at sukhoi forum and was still hoping that the Vauquelin will be released one day.
I really like your models of "Arras" and Ch-1 and I am sure people here at Subsim will highly appreciate them, too :salute:

Hello once more, Gentlemen.
Searching and curing of bugs is very interesting, but never-ending matter. And it was stopped today by power of will, at last.
I would like to offer this 'French Line 03' package, including:
- Subchaser CH-1 (cured)
- ASW Aviso 'Arras' (cured)
- Superdestroyer 'Vauquelin'.
Accordingly, should be better to remove installed CH-1 and 'Arras' before the new installation. New package is JSGME ready.
Please, find this package at http://dfiles.ru/files/bjm5d6ses?redirect (this is new 5+1 mode from 2016) (http://dfiles.ru/files/le7u2pq0a)
(push UK flag at bottom of page for English version).
Enjoy!

Texelbo, you are aware there is already a model of the destroyers of the Le Fantasque class (which included L'Audacieux)?
The model includes the 138 mm MLE 1929 and the twin 37 mm.

Texelbo, if you abandon your project on L'Audacieux, you may do even a better model for the french navy : a french cruiser !! :arrgh!:

@Texelbo,
the intention of my comment was not to make you give up the project. Do what you like.
There are no many people left doing new models for SH3. So, to me making two models of the same ship it is a lost opportunity to make another one.
All new parts you did for L'Audacieux could be used to create Mogador and Volta. No waste of work and energy plus another great model :yeah:
Well, that's my opinion.
@Fahnenbohn,
consider to mark L'Adroit and Bourrasque as done. JCK410 did a model several years ago; all big mods have that model included.
Someone once started a model of Tourville and I contributed the turrets. However, the main model never grew beyond the mesh of the plain hull.

So, gentlemen, I'm considerd situation during weekend and decided:
- finish 'Le Fantasque' asap
- check my next targets thorough community:
1. Aviso 'Bouganville' class.
2. DE 'Melpomene' class
3. DD 'Hardi' class.
Hopefully, those ships are small enough to be done in reasonable timeframe.
The Fantasque-L'Audacieux is almost ready and based on common files from the Library.
Also, some French Navy planes are under consideration.
In additional, I'm created a lot of French ports all around the world - in Africa, Madagaskar, TerNew, West-India, Levant... If somebody intersting it them - I'm ready to share.

Just asking - what exactly was added in the library files? (Shells.zon, .sim, .dsd etc.) I'm trying to trim out all the old stuff and leave it with just databases with new French data only. The goal would be to have something like Shells_FR.zon, DepthCharges_FR.sim, etc.
Also, does each new mod release have the same files, or do the newer mods have updated versions?

One more very nice model ! You are very talented Texelbo !
You know, I'm thinking about creating a complete alternative WWII history (with a totally new campaign), in which the French become the Germans' ally, in order to neutralize England, and then the USSR. The new alliance eventually beats the British fleet and manages to dominate the oceans. Americans are then repulsed in Atlantic and they stop the war. Churchill is arrested and tried for crime against peace.
Your ships are perfect for this new history, Texelbo ! I really would like to sea one day a french cruiser in game, as L'Algérie class. And a french submarine would be also really cool !!

khm, Perfide Albion...
Many years ago I was inspired same idea - cured Mers-el-Kebir, Syria campaign of 1941, Madagaskar and Djibouti, Torch landing... And even succeed issuing two-parts article about Syria Campaign in Soviet aviation magazine.
Then, after releasing of SH3, I tried to create the my first model - french submarine 'Iris'. It was a great effort, but, finaly happened nothing due impossibility to arrange the turnable torpedo launcher. On my opinion - this is key feature of french submarines. So, I suspended this model for the time beigh.

Hi, FB!
Many modders, especially many with German decent, usually never explain or talk among adults.
They either ignore completely or bash without trying.
Out of a sudden (without any response to the mails you had sent them) they attack you publicly in the forum
And THEN they come up saying "Why haven't you sent me an eMail?"
Many of them want to be treated like gods. I just had a good conversation about this with Hansolo and he agreed.
Just my two cents of own experience, so better expect nothing.
:salute:
I have spoken to the-frog privately and can assure you this matter has nothing to do with modding or the nationality of any individual or anyone wishing to be treated like a god.
This matter is one of a private nature between two individuals and not for public notification....in fact, I'm at a loss as to why you feel the need to get involved.
Hi, FB!

Why only two cents??? And why did you it in the same way you' have criticised??? That's very difficult to understand. And if someone dont want to talk with you - it is his own decision and no one has to criticese this individual decision.

From my point of view a really sad thing is that you are not allowed to IGNORE some of those you don't want to "talk" to, because they are protected as "moderators" :nope:

Hey folks,
Fahnenbohn expressed some political viewpoints I strictly dislike.
He responded in a rude and childish manner to a person's comments on that.
He did that in the public.
I expressed my dislike in the public, too.
I told him that I think low of him.
I did it in German to make my comment fit the statements he made before.
Fahnenbohn has the right to express his opinion freely
Me too.

OK, kamaraden, good news are coming.
At this week I'll release new mod 5 (ships) + 1 (plane).
I'm totaly redesigned collission and damage models on all ships - old and new, cured some visual bugs, which were kindly found by Fahnenbohn some time ago.
New weapons were added also - two types pf light french bombs (per 75 kg) and single gun DARN deck mounting for 'indoor' installation on "Bougainville'.
Note new 'action' picture from testing.

Hello.
At the flying deck it should be with wings in storage position, I guess. So, at the moment this model has implemented in game, but still needs some additional efforts with collision model.

Hi Texelbo,
20 000 polygons for chains and anchors is really a lot. Anchors, chains and related fittings of the model I am working on have in total 10 000 polygons (and I'll keep them :D ).
The trick Alex ist refering to is to seperate the model into smaller parts, for example in case of two sets of anchors with chains you split those two. Then you create one 3D-related chunk in the *.dat file, with all materials plus the 3D model of that single set of anchor and chains. Next, you create a second 3D-related chunk, with all materials BUT you do not attach a 3D model but use the ID of the first model: enter it at Linked 3D model where it reads Model ID (just above the box of the materials).
For reference, see privateer's/jeff-groves' Seaforts (GWX) or any of my recent models (opitcal instruments are repeated in that way).
Stupid thing, however, the trick does not work easily with anchors and chains because of being not identical but mirrored ... but you may split the model into submodels of the anchors plus parts of the chains and then recreate the entire arrangement in S3D with repeated instances of these submodels. Quite some work but it will save plenty of polygons. I think, it is worth the try !!
Cheers

Stupid thing, however, the trick does not work easily with anchors and chains because of being not identical but mirrored ...
Is it ? :hmmm:
I mean, anchors are the same object on both sides, the only thing one needs to do to make it look right on both sides is duplicating the object and rotating it the proper way, as far as I know...
edit
(Yet the shadow map would not look good on one side, so the object would have to be mirrored indeed. :hmmm:)

Hi Alex,
in the past I faced exactly the same problem as you: objects that could simply be cloned the way the_frog explained, if it wasnt for their Ambient Occlusion map which would require the flipping of the object for looking good. Unfortunately there is no way that I am aware of, of flipping or even scaling the meshes bound to any individual node.
For small objects as anchors and chains, you could consider giving up the AO channel though :03:
By the way: your models look awesome

Alex, gap,
I was not refering to problems with shaddow/AO maps. Thetricky part are are not due to the anchors but the chains:
https://www.mediafire.com/convkey/f362/uaku8u0s6ie5sss6g.jpg
The opposing sets of chains can be re-created by splitting them into smaller pieces but it is possible to use a single, repeated model. At least I was not able to create a mirrored instance of a 3D model in S3D. If possible, I would be very happy someone could explain the preocedure.

But without ancors and chain for while...
I was not refering to problems with shaddow/AO maps. Thetricky part are are not due to the anchors but the chains:
I love your attention to details guys. Yet, I would spare the extra polygons of 3D chains (or the time required for splitting each chain in smaller pieces to be repeated n times over the model), for more important stuff.
This is my rendition of a Mk 6 depth charge with its throwing harbor, by the way (no AO mapped yet):
http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u359/taneshikimano/Screenshot%202016-11-14%2012.03.33.png
Most details, including bolts, detonator, filling holes, etc, are 3D, but the chain was created by mapping a texture with opacity mask set appropriately, on top of two band shaped, almost flat, objects, overlayed one on top of the other and with back faces set as visible so to give the impression of a three dimensional chain.
http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u359/taneshikimano/Screenshot%202016-11-14%2013.30.29.jpg
The final resut is obviously far from perfet, but at a distance and under most angles discovering the trick would require a skilled eye.
I think that chains in stock SH5 models were done using a similar method, and in game they look fairly good. :salute:

Second problem, just after dropping the bombs, the aircraft disappear and the game crashes. I've added the .zon file which was missing, and tried again. The game doesn't crash anymore but the airplanes still disappear. I don't know how to solve that bug. :06:
