View Full Version : Jump to station mod
I had been away from gaming for a while now but recently I ran into some spare time and decided to reinstall SH5. I really want to avoid modding too much.
I mainly have 1 problem, due to recent health issues I have a partial paralysis on my left side so moving around the sub via WSAD + mouse is quite hard. I'm looking for a mod to just go to guns, go to periscope; not have to go down the ladder 1 handed each time I want to submerge.
So far I've tried the following:
[REL] Church's SHV 1.1 Key Commands and F1 Help Layout
[REL] Command Keys
[REL] MightyFine Crew Mod
Any ideas are welcome.

G'day AW-MOE,
For your situation I would highly recommend that you install "The Wolves of Steel v1.03 (even though you said that you want to avoid modding).
This will give you IMHO a version of SH5 that has all the latest, tested and stable combo of mods in one, easy to install package as the vanilla version is basically unplayable.
Then......go through the process of setting up Speech Recognition on your computer if you haven't already done so and then install "Speech Recognition_MiTonsEdition_v0.4_english" or the German version from here http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=3085 using JSGME.
Once you get it all working, you can sit back and just give orders, teleport to just about everywhere you need to go, and do what you have to do in most cases just using your microphone without ever having to touch your keyboard! :D
On my game setup, I have the GUI so that everything mouses in or out of view therefore nothing (HUD) is in your line of sight. This really adds to the immersion when combined with speech recognition of actually being onboard the boat.
EDIT: make sure you have plenty of ink and paper in the printer before printing the Speech Recognition Reference Card......it is 111 pages!!! :haha:

G'day AW-MOE,
The link looks to be for the initial beta version of TDW's New UI's.
"The Wolves of Steel" mod has the latest version..... NewUIs_TDC_7_5_0_v18_ByTheDarkWraith plus the latest version of just about every significant mod for SH5 already included.
Have a look here http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=210703 and see what you think
Its not that I don't want to mod, its just I want to avoid CTDs, conflicts, etc. Drop a folder in the MODS folder, enable through JSGME and play.
I installed Wolves of Steel, obviously did something wrong and now when I start a new campaign there is no option on the map to request a new mission.
The "NewUIs with TDC for SH5 by TheDarkWraith" looks more like what I need although the install seems complicated. It says it brings SH3 style, SH4 style, SH5 Enhanced but how do I pick and choose?

That's the whole idea behind most megamods, but just as it will take a lot of study and practise to utilize the modded game to it's full potential, it is also almost a requirement to learn how to use and become familiar with TDW's Generic Patcher, as most mods now and in the foreseeable future, will be based on the "fixes" this application does to the broken original SH5 exe.

I would suggest checking out "THEBURBSTER's" Tutorials Thread - http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=211804 where he has assemble a vast repository of information and "How To's" regarding just about everything there is to ask about SH5! :yeah:
Also check out the"TWoS" thread http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=210703 as vdr1981 has answered a myriad of questions regarding this mod :yep:

TDW's latest version of the his UI mod is already included in "TWoS" megamod. You can change the UI style between options by using the"Options File Editor Viewer" that should have installed here - C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\data\Applications\OptionsFileEditorViewer as part of the "TWoS" mod.
I normally make a shortcut of the application to the desktop for ease of access. Open the Options File Editor Viewer and go to "Set path to menu.txt" and point it to C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\data\Menu\menu.txt
Then go to "Set SH5 install path" and point it to your C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5 folder.......Then..... select the "File - Open" option and point it to C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\data\Scripts\Menu\TheDarkWraithUserOptions.py, click open then...Voila!! The Options File Editor Viewer will pop up with a multitude of tabs containing enough options to keep any fiddler busy for days! :yep:(BTW...you only have to go through this once unless you remove and reinstall the mod)
Your original question....click the Options File Editor Viewer UI tab, open the "UI style used in-game", it will be SH5 Enhanced....double click this and the other options will appear, select the choice you want and then save.
