Enjoy mod hosting site while it lasts

I have decided NOT to extend my subscription of my webhost for SHMF, where some mods are hosted due to lack of support.
The subscription ends January 25th.

The site had its own proper domain name (Silent Hunter Mods Forum), but that will soon be history. I set up hosting for mods (for SH3, SH4 and SH5) from other modders, but only a few came and got their mods up there. And only few members wanted to donate for the hosting costs, which rose because of the hosting of lots of big size radio mods. It hasn't been appreciated, so why continue? That's why, I'll pull the plug.

In the future, I may move the forum to another host, where I keep my main site (not mod related), just to secure my own mods.
But the other mods will need to find other places to be hosted. And if they ain't available elsewhere, it's not my problem. I couldn't care less anymore.

So if you want the mods, it's your last chance. Go visit:

However, some mods are for SHMF members only, not regular members/guest. The forum has been attacked by spammers, so I have disabled the normal registration process. Sorry!
So only those of you who have allready registred, can get access now. Otherwise, you have to either settle for those mods available to guests or to wait for my approval for full access. Be PATIENT!

May I say a big thank you for doing what you've done for several years now!! I was never a member, but I have been to your site before. Well managed, and open to those that wished to use it. I appreciate your efforts, and wish you the best in the future....where ever it may take you!

Sorry to see your site go Carotio, I did support you a couple times and would like to Thank You for hosting.

I'm not playing SH4 as often, mostly just playing around with different mods, nothing serious.

Rough year for $$ too, however that's 'retired' fixed income life.

its not about that, its just most people aren't used to saying thank you or show any appreciation for the things others give them.

i bet the average person has no idea what is involved in hosting and maintaining a site so they have no idea of the gift they were getting for free.

people today think everything on the internet is free so they have no perspective

Well, you probably are right.

Anyway, a little comfort can be revealed now.

I have managed to get the forum up and running on a subdomain on a server of an other host; that is SHMF will get a new url adress:

http://shmf.larsbundgaard.dk/

However, the mods won't get space on that server, so there is the same deadline as before: get the mods before January 25th, if any of the mods are some which you want.

I wished to save the forum, just because there were some valuable posts there. But the mods will have to be uploaded elsewhere: mediafire or similar places. And I won't be doing that work. The modders can reupload them themselves, if they want. I will only manage my own (old) mods now. I had some WIP mods of both SH3, SH4 and SH5, which I don't know will ever see the daylight, since I quit modding years ago, and I really can't remember everything about it, since I lost interest in SH modding due to a lot of reasons... But if they appear, they will appear there.

I have been a couple of times to your site and found very useful links when I was playing sh 3 + gwx! Thank you very much, eventhough I haven't been a very active member so far, and not at all at your forum I want to say thank you! :yep:

It really amazes me how much time and care you put into your hobbies to make guys like me enjoy a sub simulation with so many different szenarios and possibilities and 1000+ gaming hours:salute:
