Late war conning tower the single mount 40mm BOFORS on the forward platform looks like it should be able to traverse at least 180 degrees if not more. But when manually operated I can't move it more than 30 degrees left or right. Got a damaged merchant ship at 045 or 315 I SHOULD be able to shoot with the forward 40, but it won't swing far enough. I can actually hit the same ship with the aft 40, swinging it all the way around 135 degrees, in fact there don't seem to be any restrictions on the aft 40 field of fire. Anyone know which file or files controls the restriction of the forward 40?
I think you can adjust that in the *.sim file.

Nope. Found it though, it's in Objects\Conning_SalmonSargo_03.sim (or whatever the class and version). First obj_turret is 0 min 360 max, so the aft gun can be trained to fire forward through the bridge (OH THE HUMANITY! :timeout: ). Second one is the forward gun, min 300 max 60 so restricted to 30 degrees forward of either beam. Doesn't seem like it though, it feels more like 45 degrees at most.
Anyway changing the numbers;
Traverse
min=225
max=135
That allows an arc of 270 degrees with only 45 degrees either side of dead aft blocked, and is more in synch with the visual model. I use the 40 to finish off or sink smaller merchants and sampans, always wondered why I had to shift to the aft 40 before the target passed abeam.

Remind me to stop at ordinance and make them lubbers walk the plank. :arrgh!:Please do. Nothing is worse to the working Navy than a sailor who has never been to sea. :arrgh!:
