I just reinstalled DW on my new Win 8 system, and every time I try to run it, I get an immediate CTD. Anybody have any ideas?

My drivers are all up-to-date, and I have the program installed on a secondary hard drive in the Steam folder.

DW and SC will no longer run on windows 8 at all, you could try the control panel settings and run the game under a previous setting of windows 7

>.< My range of playable subsims is dropping rapidly. I mean, I love SH3, but...

I run windows 8.1 SH3 4 and 5 play fine Ship sim all plays fine even FS2004 plays fine its just the game engine for DW I think that clashes, and as sub command uses the same engine it too clashes

Yeah I just built a new PC basically and bought another copy of Windows 7 because of Dangerous Waters and because I like 7 better than 8. If you have an old OS laying around, you should try dual-booting. If you want to get Windows 7, you can get an OEM copy for ~$100 US.
