TMO and RFB are competing supermods. Installing them both will cause one to overwrite the other and possibly cause CTDs.

RSRD is a campaign mod designed to work with either of the other two, but there is a specific version designed to go with each supermod. You need to make sure you pick the right version for whichever supermod you choose. Whichever one you choose, RSRD goes in second.

Improved Stock Environment is designed for the basic game. Both supermods have their own environmental improvements.

ah ok!!! thank you very much, and what mod do you suggest? TMO or RFB???
I heard that TMO Is the Top...

This is my recommendation:

RFB_2.0 .................................................. .....(Real Fleet Boat)
RFB_2.0_Patch_23April2010
RSRDC_RFB_V575 ...................................(Run Silent Run Deep Campaign)
RSRDC_RFBV5xx_Patch1
Improved Ship Physics 1.1

This provides many improvements with only five mods. RFB (Real Fleet Boat) aims to achieve the most realistic gameplay and changes many elements. RSRDC (Run Silent Run Deep Campaign) changes shipping traffic and missions to historical volume/pattern. Stock has excessive traffic and isn't well configured.

ISP makes the diving, turning, acceleration, battery performance, and sea-keeping of your boat more realistic.

Note that you must have v1.5 of Silent Hunter 4 to run these mods (as most others).

Also, when you install and enable these mods (using JSGME), you should start a new career, and avoid experimenting with a lot of mods within this career.

Depends on what type of realism you want really. I don't play RFB enough to comment on it but I do love TMO and while it's insanely unrealistic in a fair few aspects(Like how easy it is for the destroyers to find you.) that unrealisticness forces you to behave realistically when trying to attack a convoy.

RFB is more realistic. TMO takes some liberties with history, to dial up escort capabilities, and make things harder.

A lot of people install TMO because they want a "challenge", then end up modding TMO to make it easier because they get tired of getting killed off.

Keep in mind, there are a lot of aspects that are totally within your control, regardless of what mod you use. I'm talking about whether you play DID, use map-contacts, follow patrol orders, limit your patrol duration, etc., etc.

TMO has had more recent development than RFB. Also, I think the eye-candy factor is higher in TMO.

As far as which you should try, I've read too many posts about escorts hearing subs going at 1 kt., having the periscope spotted from miles away, and long range gun fire hits, to recommend TMO for new players. Just my opinion here.

Over time you can try RFB, TMO, all the rest, and decide for yourself.

The candy eye factor in TMO affects only the sub interiors. If you can live without the Nisgeis 3D TDC, you can enable all the Vickers Interiors in RFB with some S3D touches. ISE works very fine with RFB, better than TMO.

TMO is perfect for an high challenge, but those enemy ships are not the historic IJN...

I currently run only

TMO
RSRDC_TMO_v50x
RSRDC_V5xx_Patch1

I have ran this for over a year in many campaigns, I like this combo because you don't have a huge "Mod Soup" also the visuals are great! I personally have never tried RFB though so my views are bias'ed.

You have the Vickers Balao interior fix for RFB. (In the download section of SUBSIM Forums).

Also, I tweaked with S3D the "iluminated" hatches you have with Vickers Interiors for the access to the radio station. I donīt like the U Boat radio station in my fleet boat. :03: I have the Vickers interiors in RFB without the boot radio station.

The "scenery" in RFB is similar to TMO, no great change. ISE works better with the RFB water than TMO environment.

For me, the main point of TMO is the challenging gameplay. The eye candy is similar in both supermods.
