Apologies fellow simmers for opening a new thread but noticing my addition to the other I commented in isn't getting any traction. I feel confident there are more than a few simmers that are running DW and the RA mod in Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

I purchased DW off of Steam so as not to worry about finding the patch everytime and when I select the shortcut, I get 2 error messages. They are: "Failed to initialize graphics display" and "Context Create Error; -2147467259"

I have the most current video and sound drivers and just need to know how my fellow simmers have gotten their setups to run in Windows 7.

Thanks in advance and again, my humble apologies for a new thread. I just think it may be more of a Steam issue that's going to be tough to overcome.

I wouldn't worry about it, this particular subforum doesn't see too much activity, so any excuse to post is nice lol

Um, I unfortunately don't have much more productive to say other than that. DW with Steam has always worked with my Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium. Graphics driver up to date? Reinstalled the game? All other drivers up to date?

Thanks for the reply. My video drivers are most definitely up to date, using Nvidia's reference driver with it set to auto-update. I'm not certain my sound drivers are up to date, but based on the error messages, I am suspect they are not the cause.

It's just puzzling as I look through the Steam forums and see people there as well running it fine in windows 7. Hugely frustrating, more so because I purchased it with hopes of no issues post install.

I am curious if it has to do with installing the game under Program Files (x86) is the culprit. I am hoping that to not be the case as I would have to remove the current folder and change all the shortcuts...actually, that may not be such a difficult task, now reading my reply back before posting. So, I may try that and post the results.

For me, and I'm sure for many others, the game is installed under Program Files (x86). If it's easy enough for you to try someplace else, it's worth a shot, though. I don't think it's gonna do anything, but it can't hurt.

It didn't seem to matter. I even purchased the SCS jewel case version, no avail. I'm also gonna try the process mentioned by another simmer in this sub forum. This really sucks!

Can you set your screen colordepth to 16 bits or if needed 256 colors. I know it is not desirable, but could be the cause.

Yeah, I do this when I run Dangerous Waters in a window for recording.

Also, if it is not too big of a pain for you, I'm gonna suggest a fresh install of Windows 7. Since this game does work for so many people on Windows 7, there's a decent chance something got messed up in your install somewhere along the way. I know a reformat isn't easy especially if you're not someone who has done a lot of them, but it's probably easier than spending ages hunting around for gremlins in your operating system for a game that not many people play.
