Hi guys,

There´s one question I have.

Silent Hunter is recognizing only 2 gig of Ram, I have 6 Gigs of Ram.
Is there a way the game can use all my 6 Gigs of Ram?

Thanks for your help

32:down: or 64 bit:yeah: OpSys? This might help:- http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/im-not-being-able-to-access-more-than-2gb-of-ram/fed65c93-3433-4069-bd84-5f61315ef636
Bottom line, if you are using windows for gaming, you should be using a 64 bit operating system.

The 3GB switch won't do anything performance-wise. It will just avoid errors and crashes when SH5 runs out of "memory" (addressing space actually).
And it will only matter for 32 bit systems.

Even though you only have 2GB RAM, the 3GB switch refers to _virtual memory_, not physical memory. So you can enable the 3GB switch even with 1 GB of RAM, it will help.

If you have windows vista/7, the more video RAM you have, the more your harbors will disappear ! (as paradoxical as it can be....)
That's because the video card memory uses the same 2GB of virtual memory as the game uses, so you will have less memory for the game.

As a conclusion, this will only avoid errors/crashes, and only works on 32bit systems (with more positive impact for vista/win7 uses).''

Hiya,

x64 W7 here, 12gb ram

The game uses what it needs that's about it

If you have plenty enough of ram then don't worry

Games as i say just using what it needs with plenty to spare

Hi,

The problem is, that when I did the installation the setup told me that I have insufficient Ram to play the game.
And when installing the Mods(sobers) the game is lagging like hell!!. So there must be a problem.
I have to find that problem! Gonna check the ram !

Hello Harcor,
Did you try playing the "Plain Vanilla" game; with no modifications whatsoever?
Adjust your graphic settings: shadows, anti aliasing, etc., hi or low?
If your performance is good without mods enabled you can begin to add just a few; one at a time, to test the performance of your computer. Add mods until you have that unexceptable slowdown. Then you must decide which mods are the most important to you.

There is also a method or program in Win 7 to increase the virtual memory- I kept getting the 'memory warning' too; along with the popup info on virtual memory blah-blah and my tech adept nephew used the program to increase it to where I don't get the message warning quite as often. My computer skills are minimal and I run on 4GB with a less than stellar video card; But I still manage to ravage the Royal Navy on my third career in SHV!?:o

Turn shadows to halfway in the in game graphic options .
Use multisampling for the AA in graphics card options .
