There are some white Screen and 4:3 GUi's like Conus or Magui or OLC etc. Which of them do u prefer and why?

I prefer the one that is in the original GWX supermod tbh but that doesn't mean I consider others to be inferior.

I use OLC GUI 1.2.7. The mod came with an instructional video and PDF file for manual targeting and that's how I learned to do my own targeting. Once I find something I like, I stick with it. It's an age thing. :D

Most of the GUI I use is straight GWX v3, with Captain Teach’s Color Icons for the buttons and with FB Sale’s large slider compass added in. (I don’t actually use the GUI much, as I play using voice command.) But for the scope and UZO pages, I use Hitman’s Optics. No notepad, no stadimeter, and no in-game aids. I use DIY hand-held two-sided angriffscheibe and RAOBF as attack aids. I also use Tycho's analog watch with no digital readouts for speed, depth, etc. All analog, very spartan, very 1940's. I try to avoid that "computerized" look-and-feel as much as possible.

I didn't like much the GWX default GUI even if I found it better then stock SH GUI. Then I installed MaGUI and since then I'm happy.

I like the MaGUI. Perfect GUI mod for me:up:

I tried all of those mentioned here already and finally decided on the relatively stock GWX Gui. I generally make subtle changes to the Gui that are more to my personal liking. I also tried the hsGUI and I may try that again for my next career.

Currently I'm running MaGUI, decided to give it a shot after a clean-slate protocol (I broke SHIII and couldn't figure out what broke it).

Prior to that I ran OLC Gold with ACM Reloaded.

I can vouch for both being very, very good, and up to personal preference as to which is 'superior'. So far, I'm liking MaGUI a bit more, but I think it's because I have new toys to learn, where as I had OLC pretty much mastered.

Not me.
I thought about it when I discovered the possibilities to play in widescreen mode but then I was already accotumated to the 4:3 ratio and I play 1024x768 on a native display of 1366x768.
To be honest I really do not feel the need for the widescreen mode.

I use FLB_Sales's 'Simfeeling 6-Dials' mod. All six major dials are very large slideouts and there is nothing on the screen ever unless I call it up. As for targeting, well, I'm not much good at math or perceptive thinking, so I still use WE Assistance. No GUI at all. Also no widescreen.

Steve, I just want thank you for the inspiration. I don't use a GUI much, and when responding to this thread, I realized that I had already implemented all the button commands as keystrokes, which are activated by Eric Knepfler's SHSpeech software. So all the officers are out of sight on a slider. But I thought I still needed the dials because dial-setting is the way SHSpeech enters speed, depth, course, etc. When you mentioned the FLB_Sale's slideouts, it got me thinking. I decided to try and put all the dials onto slideouts which SHSpeech would pull out as needed. Took a little fiddling, but now it works fine! I have just the 2D and 3D screens with a transparent message bar. If I want to check depth or speed, I go to the control room and look at the gauges. I also got rid of all digital readouts on the sliders, except for TC, which is a computer artifact anyway. It is a cool way to play. (I tried this first a while ago with SH5, which has a more integrated voice command and was easier to do.) Now I no longer have a "dashboard" or "instrument panel" (maybe "Google Glass?") floating in front of me whenever I look around. All I see are my surroundings - the sub interior or the bridge view. So I guess my preferred GUI is - no GUI at all!:D

Does anyone know of a mod that uses the OM dials from sh4 or even if they are at all compatible with sh3? Stock gwx ui would be sweet with a few tweaks like one of the various officer icons and the glassy looking dials from the sh4 u-boats. The boarinstrument 1.0 mod has the best gauges, imo. Just found them and they are pretty good!

I thought that's what this thread was.

I've used most of the GUIs available. Since I switched to manual targeting (non notepad) I used MaGui. Before that I loved Simfeeling 6-dials.

I'm currently using ACM Reloaded. I think it does a great job of representing the differences in the periscopes views.

My 2 cents.

I agree with Tupolev about the reason for ACM reloaded.

I use OLC and ACM reloaded because I enjoy having to use the round vernier thingy to estimate distance/AOB and ACM reloaded makes the observation scope actually worth using.
In most mods the views from the observation scope and attack scope are the same. I have no idea what is "real" but to me this made me always use the attack scope. With ACM reloaded, the observation scope is much larger so I am forced to use it to spot and "observe" then switch to the attack scope when they get closer because it's view is smaller but has the distance and angle stuff (OLC).
