Hi fellow huntsmen!

I just want to throw a quick question to you guys.

According to some forum posts it is possible to install mods onto a GWX SH3 installation with the help of sh3cmdr.

I did so by installing the JSGME "Mods" folder in that of the sh3cmdr path. Additional mods I have enabled via JSGME were the "OLC Gold MKII" or "FM New Interior" mods, for example. In other words mods, that should work with GWX.

The problem I have is, that SH3 (GWX) is starting fine, but unfortunately without the mods I installed additionally with JSGME within the sh3cmdr\mods\... path.

So how can I install extra mods in the sh3cmdr path that are recognized by Silent Hunter GWX?
Can I install every mod in there assuming it is compatible with GWX or do I rather have to put them into the SH3 GWX path?

Do not be angry, I know it was posted before that this should work. But Silent Hunter is ignoring my efforts here. I am sorry - explain the obvious to me please!

Cheers, pac.

First, WELCOME ABOARD! :sunny:

You'll have to explain further or link to one of those posts, so we can understand what they mean. SH3 Commander is a stand-alone program that can be used with the stock game or with any supermod, as is JSGME. Aside from that, Commander has nothing to do with GWX or any other supermod. What I mean is that you don't install mods "with the help of SH3 Commander."

I did so by installing the JSGME "Mods" folder in that of the sh3cmdr path. Additional mods I have enabled via JSGME were the "OLC Gold MKII" or "FM New Interior" mods, for example. In other words mods, that should work with GWX.
No. You need to have JSGME installed to GWX, not Commander.

That is because you have installed the mods to Commander, and not to SH3.

No. Forget Commander. Well, don't forget it but recognize that it is its own program and has nothing to do with GWX directly.

Trust me, I'm not angry, but no, it shouldn't work. JSGME needs to be installed into the SH3 folder, not Commander. :yep:

There are some mods which are intended to be installed in SH3 Commander, which Commander then uses to modify the SH3 game files at load time. WB's Warning Orders and WB's Mid-patrol Radio Orders, for instance, both have SH3-Commander versions. The cool thing is that mods installed through Commander can be time-specific - only apply during June to October, 1942, for example. But the mods have to be written to work that way. As Steve said, just putting a Mods folder into Commander won't do it. Mods intended to be activated in SH3 Commander will tell you so in the documentation. All other mods should be activated through JSGME in the normal way.

IIRC, there are some brief - and not entirely correct - words in the Commander documentation about how to do time-specific and random mods.

Yea... what can I say. You guys are right, of course.

Apparently I just kept misinterpreting forum threads I read beforehand. Sorry again.

Thanks!

Its no issue. SH3C is a very cool tool that once i get more time I will be writing more mods for as that date specific function is useful to simulate certain things.

and welcome to subsim herr kaluen

Is there a list available on these time-controlled mods that you install using S3C ?

Any of these grammaphone mods can be made to play starting on the appropriate date if installed per the included instructions. This is just the '1945' folder, but all the rest follow it in the SH3 SFX Downloads.

Also players have placed sub skins into the 'Date' folders so they change without warning throughout the war.
