Hello Together,

I have two Things I want to change, but I have no Idea how I could do it. The first thing should be easy. I'm using the Map of the RealNavMod, because it has the Longitude and Latitude Gridlines. As you could see in the Picture below, the Colour of the Gridlines and of the Landscape are allmost the same.

Thats why I need someone who can tell me how I could change the Colour of it.

The second Thing is not that simple. I just want the TDC Controlls in the Periscope-View and the UZO-View. There are a few Mods that do exactly that, but mostly they do a little bit more then I want. The GWX - Rafael DSK GUI (updated) Mod is One of those and I tried it. Looks very nice and it has what I want. The TDC Controlls in the Periscop- and UZO-View, marked by the red Circles on the following Picture, are sliding out seperatly when you hover the Mous over the left or right upper Screen Edge.

But this Mod changes a lot of things in the Game. Things that looks nice but did not match my personal flavour. Therefore, I need help of People who can tell me how I have to Change the Files so that I only get the slideout TDC Controlls of that Mod. So in the End it looks like in this Picture below.

I hope that this is not impossible, and of course you don't have to do the work for me. Just tell me what I have to Change and I will do it. Ok I have no knowledge about modding, but it's not a Problem to open a File and Change some Values in it. As long as I have a good discription.

Thanks in advance for the upcoming help. Now I'll wait to be enlightened by your knowledge, or at least to learn something new. Good Hunting and have a nice day. :)

1. For Longitude and Latitude. They are draw probably in \data\terrain\maps\Map1 folder, 4320_2160.raw file, but there are no colors. Colors are in \data\terrain\pal folder, Terrain.act file.
The choice is only from few colors, these that are in map colors gradient. One of the land colors is a good choice for this, to be visible over water area. If you change color in gradient file, for example to red color, then some land will be red too.

2. TDC on periscope and Uzo. I know how to grab something from one mod and add to my gui, but this is not easy to explain. You need to learn how menu_1024_768.ini, deals.cfg and Commands_.cfg files work and then edit them.

Ahoy and Thank You, Tycho,

for the Information. Ok, I have to admit that this are not the Information I hoped for, but they tell me that it is a little more complicated than I thought. And that just means that I have to learn a little more than I expected. That's Ok.

1. So if I understand correctly, there is no (simple) way to insert additional colors for longitudes and latitudes. Hmm ... not nice but I could live with that.

2. Hmm ... do you know a good Page where I can learn how menu_1024_768.ini, dials.cfg and Commands_(de/en/fr).cfg files are working? It might save me a long search, and I could start earlier with learning. Because simply trying to change values to see what happens seems not very effective.
But maybe you could give me a brief explanation of what I had to do in order to achieve the desired result. Maybe I can do it that way, and if not, I would then have a first direction after I learned what I need to know.

Well, as I wrote at the Beginning of this Post thank you for this Information. If there is to know more or someone else has to say something, just tell me. Until then have a nice day and good hunting.

Ahoy and Thank You, Maik,

for this Link. I have downloaded it, and gonna read it later before I gonna go to Bed. And tomorrow my knowledge should be a little bit bigger, at least I hope so. If not, I'll read it again. :)

Still have a nice day and good hunting. :salute:

EDIT:

Ahoy again everybody,

I've read the File. A little bit short but very interesting. Even when the most Informations weren't useful to me. At least, for that what I want to do, but that's Ok. Maybe they will help me in some other ways. But now let us see what I did, the last Days. First off all I Crosschecked the Command.cfg, by taking the Mod-Version and the Version of my current Game-Config. The Result showed me, that there were no important changes. So I deleted the Command.cfg Files of the Mod. Next Step was that I checked the Dial.cfg File, in the same way. With the Result that there was only one entry, that have had different Values in both versions, which I've changed. After that I copied the additional Entrys for the UZO and Attack-Periscope of the Mod-Ini File, and pasted them into the copy of my current Game-Ini File. Then it was time to test it. It worked.
There are only some small Graphic problems and I could use the sliding TDC on the left Side (see Pictures in the first Post) in every Screen. Therefore I just have to check which Tga-Files I have to keep in the Mod, so that the Dials Backgrounds are shown correctly. (as good as done) And I have to find out where I must change some Values, so that the sliding TDC-Controlls are only used in the UZO and Attack-Periscope view. This maybe could take longer, so any clue is welcome.
My desired Changes to this Mod are almost done, but if someone still has some hints or Informations how the Files work in Silent Hunter 3, just let me know. Have a nice day and good hunting. :salute:

P.S.: I don't wanted to make a Doublepost, so I hope it's Ok that I used the Edit-Button.

Ahoy Everybody,

the Graphic Problems are gone. Found the right TGA-Files and copied them into the Mod folder. The only thing left are the TDC-Controlls. They are working but still shown in every Screen. The reason for that is the Parent-ID of the first entry of the sliding TDC Modifikations. Because it is the Item-ID of the first Item in the Layout group. I changed the Parent-ID to the Item-ID of the first Entry in the Attack-Periscope Group. It worked, but not really good. The Background-Image of the Attack-Periscope was in front of it. There was only a small part to see, at the top Border of the Circel that shows the Outside Area.
I tried some other Item-IDs, but it didn't worked. I also tried it with the same Parent-ID that is used to place the sliding Torpedospeed, -pistol and -depth etc., without a result. Therefore I need some additional advise and/or instructions to get the last desired step done.
Oh and thank you reallydedpoet for the small push. Have a nice day and good hunting. :salute:
