hi there,
here's my problem:
I am a german native speaker and all those "das boot" flavor lines (sounds) in the background are quite cool but sadly do get on my nerves after a while. That's why I'd like to ask if it was possible to simply delete all that crew talk from the movie "das boot"? If so pls tell me where to find them cause I couldn't but would love to continue using this mod !!

To be specific:
1) Where're those files in "thomsen's sound pack V3.2" ?
2) It's only about the spoken lines from the movie "das boot" which appear in the background when under deck. Such sound files were intended to make the crew/boat feel more alive !!

Do you mean when you go to periscope depth or when you make a command send the officer replies with a line from the movie...I don't use thomsens that's why I ask.

The mod constantly runs random lines from the movie everytime when you are inside (not on bridge) of your u-boot. It's more or less like background noise (if you wanna call it like that). It's certainly not a verbal reaction to your commands.

For example, I find it distracting when they (a randomly added line from the movie) suddenly report a sighted ship or when one crew man asked another why we were diving....

I think this is the ambient submarine sounds file found in ubisoft / data / sound
Its called amb_SubmarineInterior....
But this is the file that plays in the background all the time...men sniffling and coughing and papers shuffling etc.

Open the file with your media player and see if it is the one, if not search the other files there until you find the one that you do not want.

in thomsen's sound pack V3.2 I've found (data/sound):

amb_SubmarineInterior
amb_SubmarineInterior1
amb_SubmarineInterior2

Files info: all 3 are about 30 mins long. Stock SH3 seems to have only one amb_SubmarineInterior that only runs for about 10.

Conclusion: These files are indeed background sounds but sadly do not include the randomly appearing "das boot" crew talk. The mod must somehow play such files over the "amb_SubmarineInterior" files !!?

Anyway, at the weekend I'll go through every single file. In case I made it work i'll report back :gulp: (cool smilies :haha:)

I think you were right after all ! I've deleted all amb_SubmarineInterior files from the mod and instead copied the one from stock sh3 into it which did the job ! The sounds I disliked must have been somewhere hidden in the three amb_SubmarineInterior files of the thomsen's sound pack V3.2 :salute:

Wow, I was working on this exact same thing, the constant talking drives me nuts, especially when I'm silent running. I haven't played in months because I just got tired of hearing those guys all the time. I think the file amb_SubmarineInterior has most of the talking in the left channel only. So I'm going to delete the left side channel and just copy the right channel into the left.
