:wah: Help! i have been trying to install TDW's 7.4.2 new UI mod for in excess of 18 months, with absolutely no success. I can and have downloaded it. It states it is JGSME ready. It will load into activated mods section of JGSME loader. However, will it activate (work) when i go to Sub pen? No way!.
I need help from the beginning (A to Z) of how to install this Mod before I commit Harri-Karri.
Please help this Noob on this installation, gentlemen?

TDW’s New Ui is a collection of 13 mods.
Once you have unzipped the mod you will see this
NewUi’s_...
Open this
You will then see
Dials (Also contains a text “Readme”)
Mods
Texts (If you require a different language from English)
Open the “Mods Folder” and you will see the 13 mods
The “Main Mod” is in “Folder 3”
It is these 13 Mods that have the “Data Folder” that you need for the game.
Copy the “Main Mod Folder 3” in to your “SH5 Mods Folder”
You should now see this on the left side of “JSGME”
Right click on the mod with your mouse.
Right click on "Explore"
If you can see the “Data Folder” you will now have a working mod once you enable it.
Any additional Ui mods you want put behind the “Main Mod”

No you do not need to look for anything I am just stating how you see the default setting.
The default stock setting when you first go in to it will show yes, yes, yes.
Because you are using TDW's Ui you need to change one of those settings to a "no"
That's all there is to it.

1. How does one activate the snorkel device and where do I find a snorkel?.
2. I am having considerable problems with "equipment upgrades fix v1.4 by the beast", in as much that it clashes with MCCD 1.04 MFCM 1.2.1 compatible ( used to allow additional commands for "Mighty fine crew" mod) and either have to have one or the other removed. Currently running AFFOE version which is not as good as the Beast's version, but it allows both at least.

The “Snorkel” is in TDW’s Option File Editor Viewer”
I think it is the 1st tab!
You will see all the available U_boats.
You can change them all or individually.
You will get a thumping great lump sticking out of your conning tower.
This will restrict your left view.
At “Snorkel Depth” make sure you are running on “Standard Propulsion” (Yellowed)
In bad weather you will find the “Batteries” will kick in and out.

HOW TO INSTALL “TDW’s OPTION FILE EDITOR VIEWER”
HOW TO USE THE “JSGME MOD VALIDATOR”
HOW TO USE THE “SH VALIDATOR”
This is how I Installed TDW’s Option File Editor Viewer with the mod "Enabled"
Go to your "Mods Folder".
“TDW’s File Option File Editor Viewer” is inside “TDW’s NewUI Base Mod”.
Right click the mouse on the “Base Mod” (i.e.7_4_2) and “Open” it.
Open the “Data Folder”
Open the “Application Folder”
Open the “OptionFileEditorViewer Folder”
Open the “Application” “OptionsFileEditorViewer”
Open “File”
Click on “Set path to menu.txt”
Click on “Menu” (This is the last file)
Open “File”
Click on “Set SH5 install path”
Select your main “Silent Hunter 5 Folder” but do not open it.
“Ok” it.
Go to “File”
Select the first “Open”
This will show the .py “TheDarkWraithUserOptions”
Double click on it and this will open up the “Editor”
You should now see a row of “Option Tabs”
Make your changes. (These changes should made in the bunker)
To “Save” your changes.
Go to “File”
Select “Save”
“Ok” it.
Except all prompts.
The first time you “Save” You may be taken to the “Menu” py files. If this is the case you select the py file that is the last file in the list.
“TheDarkWraithUserOptions”. Click on it and select “Save”. You will get a “Save” confirmation.
Although it is recommended I have never done this in “JSGME” with the mod disabled.
If you wish to do it this way.
With the mod disabled.
You right click on it and select “Explore”
This takes you directly to the “Application Folder” As shown above.
Follow the above instructions from that point.
When I make changes when the mod is “Enabled” I always reset “Set path to menu.txt”
If you are running "Steam" you cannot enable "Decks Awash" as it also needs to be enabled in "TDW's Generic File Patcher"
You may also have noticed that when you went to the “Applications Folder” there was also in this Folder:
The “JSGME Mod Validator” File Folder.
Click on this and then click on the “JSGMEModValidator” “Application”
Select “SH5”
If you want to find the path yourself then click on “Yes”
Select your main “Silent Hunter 5 Folder” but do not open it.
“Ok” it.
The “Validator” will now start to work and you will see all the “Enabled Mods”.
It will show if the mods have been installed correctly.
It will show “Determining Each Mods Conflicts Conflicting Files”.
This is shown by using the codes “D – A – W – S”
You may again also have noticed that when you went to the “Applications Folder” there were also in this Folder:
The “SH5 Validator” File Folder.
Open the “SH5Validator” “Application”
Select “SH5”
“Ok” it.
If you want to find the path yourself then click on “Yes”.
Select your main “Silent Hunter 5 Folder” but do not open it.
“Ok” it
It will “Validate” the following:
Countries
Classes
Campaigns
Saved Campaigns
Roster
Def
When the “Validation” has completed if it has found any “Errors” you can review “The Log For Errors”
“Errors” are denoted by leading “*********”
You will then be offered to “Generate a Log File”.
“Ok” to generate one.
This will allow you to give the “Log” a “File Name” of your choice and also where you want to put it.
“Save” it
You will get a “Confirmation” “Save Created Successfully”
“Ok” it
This is held as a “Text File” that you can then view the status of all the files that were logged.

one thing i did notice and that is the link to steel vikings interior mod patch 1.2.2 is not working. Where do I acquire it,please?
I have now placed the mods as you suggested in order thereof into JGSME. I looked at the number of clashes/ contradictions that it kept throwing up with some trepadation. I thought here is a CTD if ever I saw one. WRONG! It flew on. Superb. Many, many thanks.

:Kaleun_Party::k_rofl:Large metal structure on the left hand side, so you said. I did not expect Battersea Power Station! Extending into the Iffel Tower when raised. There are 5 of us watch keeping at present plus IT!! My solutions are simple;
a. change the crew.
b. pray I am not in an air attack as there would be an additional 4 on the Flak guns.
c. Cancel the boats Christmas works party.
You have probably gathered that all went well and IT, is now on board and working, all thanks to your superb noob proof guidance.

Couple of interesting things have come up and I was wondering if you had experienced them.
1.just put back into the sub Pen and decided that I would try out the viking patch. To enter this correctly I had to take off all existing activated Mods in JGSME and re-enter a new list identical to the one taken off plus 2 or 3 additions, being careful to keep the correct order.
I went back then to Sub Pen and all was ok till I arrived aboard the boat. NO SNORKEL.
I came out of the game completely and decided to check if snorkel was activated in options viewer, having saved it the first time around. IT WAS DE-activated. I was wondering why it de-activated itself. Is it supposed to be re-activated every time you change a mod in JGSME?
Another anomaly is why after choosing your Sub skin does it change to plain grey basic skin until the first time it auto saves, whence you can acquire the chosen skin by having to go to menu and restarting the current game?
In respect of essential links, I would not mind Sobers Loading Tips.

If you used the JSGME Management Profile Tool then yes.

In the mod New UI’s TDC 7_4_2 ByTheDarkWraith you will find the Options File Editor Viewer this will allow you to make changes and customise your game play.
The path is Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\Mods\NewUI’s_TDC_7_4_2_ByTheDarkWraith\data\Appl ications\OptionsFile EditorViewer
Always, always, always read the documentation readme’s that come with any of the mods.
You can see why stock/vanilla is unplayable. Most of these mods are fixing things that are broken or sorting out bugs and glitches.

Select the first “Open”
This will show the .py “TheDarkWraithUserOptions”
Double click on it and this will open up the “Editor”
You should now see a row of “Option Tabs”
Lost it! It shows a blank entry with TDW etc at the top as a heading text file. I cannot find TDW options anywhere. I have had it with this game after over 2 years of trying and still not consistenty working. Additionally, I am getting CTD.
Many thanks for all your hard work,but I do not wish to continue with this game. Too much hassle, little enjoyment.

I am sorry to hear of your troubles.
I must admit that SH5 can be troublesome and frustrating at times.
I have to leave it and go and play some SH4 without the hassle.
I always seem to come back to SH5 at some point.

I absolutely refuse to let this beat me having come so far with your help.
The problem that is now the root cause of everything is that I can not load the blessed game without getting a CTD.
To the very best of my knowledge the mods that I am trying to load are basically the ones we were successful with previously, with only a couple of changes. The order that I have entered them is along the previously successful lines previously used. Exceptions being:-IRAQ, one torpedo one ship, trevally's tutorial.
I list below the present order of mods, may I encroach upon your good nature and ask if you could cast your eye over them to see if there is anything there that may be causing a CTD upon try to load them.
This is the order that I have done things in;
1.Started a new game( no silentotto) from the beginning by enabling first game available at low compression and then it entered me into the sub pen.
2.Did not save game, instead, came out of game completely and started to load mods into JGSME as listed below.
3.Started game as normal and it produced the main front screen with no problems.
4.I have used both "Load game" and also "continue game" on different occasions in an attempt to load correctly.
5. The game starts to load normally, the "radar" sign (bottom right corner) working normally, with the exception of one or two clitches.
6. It gets almost to end of loading procedure and CTD's every time.

:k_confused:Hi. I wonder sometimes if i will ever master the basics of modding in this game. Would you believe it, I have got the blasted thing up and running of sorts. including Battersea power station on board.You will not believe the configuration that did it (see below).
However, it's not right. On the right hand side of screen, where TDW's icons are half way up, the icon that opens up the ship recognition folder, opens book up in transparent mode.
When submerged, view is obsqured by white patches whilst looking through the attack scope.
What a nightmare.

I have never in over 2 years started from "memel", always from Kiel.
The TDW UI mod not functioning properly as 4 keys (memo,logs, recognition keys etc blanked out, still in there somewhere you just have to fumble for them.
In using the Instructions function to bring up help from say "automation", CTD.
I have instigated i believe, all of your other instructions.
Should i cut my losses and reinstall the complete game?

This is so frustrating is it not?
First of all please remove the IRAI Inertia.
I played with your mods for 90 minutes last night all ok.
I can see that you have reduced some of DYN ENV mod settings down. I will do the same.
You did not tell me how you set up the Career.
Did you use the default 'Medium.'?
Did you change any of the 'Game Play Settings.' default is 'Medium 38%.'
Did you change your 'Graphic Settings.'
Please let me know the answer to these questions.
Do you do a re-install. If you think there is no answer and you can do no more then yes that is what I would do. I think this would give you peace of mind.
Make sure you use a registry cleaner after the uninstall.
Restart your computer.
Go to the 'Start Button' and use the 'Search' for anything that is SH5.
Don't forget that 'My Documents' will also have SH5 folders and data.

I guess you may have decided to do a re-install!!
Before you install all your mods just install the 7_4_2 NEWUi mod

When the game loads you will be at 'Periscope Depth'
Check out all the things that were bothering you.
If you still have problems download a replacement 7_4_2
Do not forget it is a 'Folder in a Folder' mod so make sure you can see the 'Data Folder'
OHII has new campaigns. One of which is the 'Baltic Campaign' that starts in 'Memel' and ends in 'Kiel'

You can access them by guesswork and touch ok, but above mentioned map content and recognition files missing.

Main problem appears to be the conflict between the mods you suggested as they are by large, TDW mods that by all rights should be getting on with each other,whereas, there is upon activation, conflict with each mod,
Especially between OH11 2.5 and TDW 7.4.2 UI mod who appear to totally dislike each other.
Apart from above mentioned problems,(mainly TDW 7.4.2) I am in temporary business.
Additionally, I am on the first game, heading for Memel (?) FROM Kiel.
I have taken off twice SH5 game, latest was yesterday and totally cleaned out all reference to SH5 in doind so.
Additionally, I have downloaded TDW UI 7.4.2 and reinstalled it twice. The download I use was in SubSim downloads folders from the popular mods on the left hand side.
Should I be looking somewhere else?

I thought it’s all gone a bit quiet must be the lul before the storm.
Your last mod is included in your v2.5
Check the ‘Game Options’ ‘Graphic.Settings’ Is it the same setting as your ‘Monitor Resolution?’
Have you got the ’Windowed Mode’ box ticked?
If it is not ticked then you are playing in ‘Full Screen Mode’ This would then explain why possibly you can feel where everything is but cannot see it!
No the downloads are fine.
Enhanced Funnel Smoke has been changed in other mods (possible conflict)
Sub Flags (might cause ctd)
Have you checked out the other mods that come with v2.5?

Hi Graham, I have not seen anyone report problems with OHII 2.5 and TDW 7.4.2 together on any other threads. There is no problem by itself with TDW 7.4.2. I played OHII 2.4 with TDW 7.4.2, not 2.5 yet.
I have scanned the entire posts of this thread. I guess you really don't have a problem with double folders if you uncompressed the tdw download for his Multiple UIs for TDC file package. Looks like Theberbster has covered double or multiple file folder levels in post #2. If you need help with mods click on my signature link below.
Please disable your most current modlist. Disable the TDW patcher if used.
Go to this JSGME help thread (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=204593), and check the following: Post #3 talks about multiple folder levels and nothing should be left in the !BACKUP folder. Post #5 talks about leftover files elsewhere. Post #8 talks about py files, Multiple UIs with TDC entries and CTDs.
Options file viewer/editor can cause problems if items not saved properly. That is an application that works for the features of TDW 7.4.2 UI mod.
CTD Scenario 6:
- Famous CTD when you use "silentotto" cheat to start new campaign.
- You have recently make changes in your modlist(added new mod, reinstalled modlist), or you changed values in TheDarkWraithUserOptions.py without use of OptionsFileEditorViewer.exe
- Commonly folowed by msvcr90.dll CTD

- Go to data/Aplications/OptionsFileEditorViewer and start OptionsFileEditorViewer.exe, set correct path for menu.txt(data/menu/menu.txt) and correct SH5 installation path.

Running the JSGME Mod Validator will show if the mods have been correctly enabled with the exception of the 'Gramophone Shuffler.' that always shows as 'Incorrectly Enabled.' as it is not a mod.

First, what are the results of checks done at post 33.
Looks like some options are not set in the options file viewer/editor or corruption. Last time I checked, there is a "how to use options file viewer, editor" thread link near bottom of post #1 for Multiple UIs for TDC in SH5 thread.

Check that the option file editor is opening up correctly.
The paths show at the bottom of the screen.
Go through the relevant tabs and check that they are set as you want them to be.
Did you check your Monitor resolution?
Save your mod list to a mep file and just load 7-4-2 and OHII
Open a Historical Mission like the Bullet Test and see if it makes a difference.

Why are you asking for help when you won't follow with the information I requested at post #33.? You come back with the validator data. It is OK for it to overwrite things, all depends on the mod order usually newer replaces older. You did the same thing with validator data in post #21. Read my signature thread. Where is my answers to post #33 to help you out? I may not have stated post #33 as questions, but I gave hints of where to look. I have idea if you checked your game data against comments I have made in post #33.
Just because the viewer/editor opened Ok and there is a list at the bottom. Does not mean anything. Did you post the actual list at the bottom? No once again. You could have it pointing to the wrong locations. Please provide data that we request to help you.

I love ‘Stormy’s DBSM Mod’ but unfortunately it does not love me as when I was having ctd problems Sober told me to remove it, so I hope you have better luck.
Using the ‘Arrow keys instead of W-A-S-D much more natural.
You need to enable the ‘DBSM Hotfix 3 Mod’ to work with the ‘Main Mod.’
‘Dyn Env Sobers Best Ever Tweaks’ as you can see some are well out of date.
Check out my ‘Tutorial Post #38’ it will have the links to the updated versions.
If you click on ‘Sobers’ and go to his ‘Download Tab’ you can keep up to date with any new mods he has.
Sober also constantly updates his ‘Mega Mod Thread’ I have been struggling to keep up with his ‘Mod List Updates’ as they are all included in my ‘Tutorial Thread’

The Kriegsmarine map works in OHII by scrolling your mouse over the map.
I cannot vouch for your mod layout as you are using mods that I am not familiar with.
I have never seen Stormy’s Mod in any other mod soup in that position before. That does not mean to say that it will not work there.
Any ctd’s are likely to come from Stormy’s or Sub Flags.
Keep an eye on ‘TDW’s NewUi thread so you can keep up with any new versions of 7_5_0 that comes out.
Currently on version 16 there is likely to be more versions before it settles down.
Unless you are into the higher technicalities the basis of the game is Real Navigation you are better off with the stable version of 7_4_2.

Sorted out the problem with the map colours dissappearance, as far as I can tell it is down to installing all 3 mods (MQK). Not necessary.
I use MQK location maps and MQK shape textures only.
As for KGM map, i will take your advice and forum it.

Raven had a fix for this that lightens the map.

You can also use my SH5 Map viewer - gradient editor app found in \data\Applications of my UIs mod to make a custom gradient for the map. A custom gradient will let you customize how the colors on the map are shown.

You do not have much luck do you?:wah:
Did you do your reinstall from the dvd?
On the dvd there is a custom install option that allows you to select German voices instead of the mod.
I would remove 7_5_0 as this still a test version.
Has this just happened since you put the patch 2 on?
I would replace with 7_4_2 as this is well established.
If you decide to do this in JSGME go to tasks and save your current mods in a mep file.
Open up the mep file and everything that is 7 5 0 exactly change each digit to 7 4 2
The curser must be at the very end of the last line when you finish otherwise you will get an error message.
Go to file.
Go to save.
JSGME Tasks load the mep file.
I would then install the standalone TDW OFEV that uses the red and blue symbols so you can see what is or not enabled.
I have instructions for this.
Mod order looks good as far as I can see on the ones I know.
I see you preferred chart 4 over 3
Large Optics are brilliant I just wish the binos showed degrees.
