Hi All,
Very new to Silent Hunter, always wanted to play, never had the time. I have just bought Silent Hunter III from Steam on its Christmas sale. I then downloaded the Grey Wolves Mod from here:
http://www.thegreywolves.com/index.php
When I run the install .exe for the mod it tells me my version is incompatible because it is already modded! This is not the case, as it is a new "clean" install fresh from Steam.
So what am I doing wrong here? To anyone that answers thanks heaps! I really want to get into this sim!

WELCOME ABOARD! :sunny:
The first problem might be Steam itself, though I'm pretty certain people do run it without too many problems. The second problem might be the platform you're running it on. Windows 7 and 8 don't like to let anything run under Program Files. It's a good idea to create a folder for the game inside the main 'C' folder and run it from there. I can't say much more since I'm still stuck with a nine-year-old single-core XP rig.
You might find some help in one of the many 'Running SH3 on Windows 7' threads, but they get tangled quickly so we can only hope someone with that experience will turn up here with the help you need. Knowing Subsim, it will happen.

You need to point the installer to the correct folder containing the sh3.exe
DO NOT just clicky-clicky and allow it to try the default path.
It's that simple.

DO not post links to free copies of SH3, this game is still available for sale.
Posting to links of the above usually results in an instant ban on SubSim but I'm giving the benefit of the doubt on this one and only instance this time.
See link below:

SUBSIM Review has a longstanding policy against software piracy.
We do NOT allow discussion or even mention of game piracy, warez, peer-to-peer game swapping, game cracks, illegal download sites, or illegal file-sharing. Nothing will get you banned faster than pointing people to illegal software distribution sites. Don't ask for serial numbers, manuals, or cracks. Any admission that you have in your possession illegal software can and usually will result in revocation of your Radio Room forum account and permanent ban. We do not care what you do on your computer in your home, but do not discuss it here.Support computer game programmers buy legally purchasing their work. They have to eat too, you know.

what is your installation path? if it's "program(x86)" folder you have to change it
