Hi,
Just wanted to take a moment to thank the modders of silent hunter 5. Outstanding work on some of these mods. Sober and everyone else.
I was a silent hunter 3 gwx and silent hunter 4 trigger maru fanatic. When SH5 was released I was disappointed to say the least. I felt it had a good method behind its design but was vary incomplete. It was a game that really was never finished. What I did not realize at the time is SH5 was a pallet for modders. SH5 was a really good template for modders. The modders breathed new life into a game that was almost doomed and turned it to possibly the best silent hunter ever and highly custom. :Kaleun_Binocular:
Keep it up!!
I'm really happy to be playing again!:Kaleun_Binocular::Kaleun_Binocular::Kaleun_ Binocular:
Also anybody working on other classes of u boats? like IX? Or XXI?

There were attempts in making new player subs, but so far they were unsuccessful. The main problem is that we do jot know everything yet about the engine of the game and the model-holding files: GR2 files. Even adding new non-player units have been a challenge. Playable units are on a whole layer of complexity harder.

Aw I see. I figured their had to be a reason. The V series was the most produced and most common uboat, I can see why they chose that one for SH5. The one thing I really enjoy about SH5 with several mods is the fully modeled interior. Its really nice with a few mods. I think with 2 or 3 more subs modded into SH5 with full interiors, it would be vary cool the ultimate silent hunter (modded). Although it maybe too much to ask for right now.
I'm not sure what to think of the silent hunter series right now. I saw the silent hunter online briefly, it did not look that interesting to me. I would rather them just make a SH6 single player with optional multi-player. Seems they are watering down silent hunter more and more, when you can see here on Sub Sim that allot of us are realism die hards.

has multiple IX and XXI sub mods with proper torpedo loadout dependent on year given. Some of the mods has range added to simulate its' actual performance. Better than nothing until graphics interiors can be added.
We all hope as a team that we can get together and collaborate on modeling the interiors of these subs. A lot of work to do besides RL for all involved.

I may give that one a try. Looks interesting.
I think at 1st maybe the developers of SH5 did intend on adding different classes of subs as DLC. And possibly exp packs. But I remember they lost funding and the head designer parted ways with ubisoft, which is when the writing was on the wall. Its kind of sad, because it had so much promiss. SH5 really should have had more TLC, spent more time in development and had DLC made. UBISOFT was prob more worried about making money then keeping their die hard fans happy. Well at least we have good modders out their.
