Aside from plotting on the map, you can use the "fixed wire" method, do a search on the Sh3 forums, almost every custom interface is using it.

If you are plotting distance over time, you don't need a mod, just take the distance traveled in 3'15" and devide by 100. That is to say, a ship traveling at 8 knots will go about 800 meters in 3 1/4 minutes.
