View Full Version : Torpedo's strange behavior

Hi,
I have been trying to successfully complete the TDC mission as in stoianm Manual TDC tutorial.
I am not using real navigation yet as I have never been successful in torpedoing anything yet.
I noticed that my torpedoes seem to have a mind of their own as shown in the screen shot.
The first torpedo goes straight the second goes off in an angled direction, the third goes in circles and seems to almost hit my boat.
Can anybody help me out here?

If you have enabled Torpedo failure patches using TDW's Generic Patcher you'll also need to install one of the 4 add-on mods for torpedoes included in FX_Update_0_0_22_ByTheDarkWraith (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=174511). It will adjust the default failure rates set in the stock game.

v0.0.22
- included 4 add-on mods for torpedoes. One of them is to be used if the Torpedo patches of my Generic Patcher is enabled.

I will give that a try. I do have the generic patcher and used Sjizzles Snapshot file (gps), to enable whatever patches he had, so I bet that is why I have, what I am assuming are, torpedo failures. I have seen torpedoes circling around my boat, thought for sure I was going to sink myself! I'm pretty sure that torpedoes occasionally failed in that manner, at least in the US Navy.

I know that using the stock SH5 aiming system (Point and click) the torpedoes often will spin out or go off course.

This is not from personal experience.

"FX_Update_0_0_22_Torpedoes (modified for torpedoes failure patches)", contains 2 files:

torpedoes_g7a-e.sim
Torpedos_AI.sim

I'm in mid-patrol, but would like to run my game with this patch enabled.
Is it nescessary to add this patch while in bunker, or should it work (including my current savegames) while at sea?

I have used TDW's GenericPatcher + Sjizzle's snapshot-file, and FX_Update_0_0_22 mod is installed.

I guess no reply means I should just try to install the mod mid-patrol, and see if it works?:O:

Installing most mods mid patrol is never a good idea, you can either, go back to port, or load a save where you are already in port.

I have never used this mod so I cannot guarantee that will work or not cause a crash or anything.
