I'm currently working on a fun to play (not historical) boat based on the AC-130 gunship. I'm tweaking the 20mm, 40mm, and deck guns to have the capability and characteristics of the AC-130's armament mixed modern naval weaponry.

I would like to make this into a viable naval package with visual representation and radar targeting abilities of a Phalanx CIWS for my 20mm, the Italian Dardo CIWS for the 40mm, and the 5/25 deck gun can just stay as it is. I also intend to make the visuals of the CIWS when at the station be a black and white video representation of the AC-130's display for manual operation of the CIWS.

I have already done the rate of fire and shell abilities based on the desired weapons (the easy part) and now I would like help implementing the visual part (the hard part)

I shall call it the 'Spectre Gunboat':salute:

So let me see if I have this right. You're going to make a playable aircraft in a submarine simulator?

Negative, It is a Balao sub with modern armaments equating to what the AC-130 has. Since it is a sub and not an aircraft I want the 20mm and 40mm to be housed in their modern forms of the phalanx and dardo. So another way to put it I want a playable phalanx CIWS and dardo CIWS to be mounted in the AA gun location. Also, I'm looking to have instead of the gunsight and barrel visible when at the station I want a TV display like you would find on the optical controls of the AC-130 or Phalanx. Although, it would be funny just to invert a C-130 and put it in the water:haha:.

Right now you can just lay a constant stream of 20mm fire on a freighter to no avail, but with the tungsten penetrator rounds on a CIWS, you could probably cut the thing in half.

Another thing I want to accomplish is allowing the crew to target surface vessels from the AA station. Is that possible?

should be, if you added an AP or HE shell to the AA gun

Now, I'm quite new to the modding thing (decimating convoys since 2008, modding since 2013), I am running Silent 3ditor and I have an understanding of how to change parameters in the .sim and .zon files, what I have no idea on is how to start modeling and implementing the visual components. My goal is to see the phalanx 'R2D2' bolted to my aft AA deck and the 40MM CIWS bolted to the forward AA deck. What kinds of 3d models / image files are required to do that?
