A few years ago when I played SHIII, I think I remember seeing a mod for reducing the chances of encountering a ship while at sea. I can leave Wilhelmshaven headed for Rockall Bank and will have to let 3 to maybe 7 ships go by so I don't use my torpedoes before I get there. If there is not such a mod, is there any chance of someone making one, or telling me how to do it.? I'd like to have a mod to where I had a 15 to 20% chance of seeing a ship.

Thanks and :salute:.

I doubt you will get your wish....the Campaign_Scr is as close to reality as can be.

Thanks, Jimbuna. Ah, well. It was just a thought.

You could just ignore them. And I am not trying to be flip with you: On ordering Hardegan to the east coast of the US, Dönitz told him to waste neither time nor eels on anything under 10K tons.

Since learning that, I roll dice at the start of each patrol to tell me whether I should sink all allied shipping en-route, or just "majors".

It does change the dynamic of the game, as I can easily pass up 15-25K tons of small stuff on the way -- and then not see another 10K for the 14-21 days I stay on station.

The thing is, I see way too many ships. I can be 50Km from land, in rough seas, and see a sailboat or torpedo boat. That can be realistic.

This won't reduce the number of ships you accidentally run into, but it will make a huge difference in the number you hear about. You can also control it to either reduce or increase that number.

Wow that looks like a nice program :) Does anyone know how it does what it does? I mean what files does it change? Is it compatible with NYGM? (I have a heavily modded SH3 and changing anything is usually tricky.)
