My advice is to reload your last save game and try again, if it still CTD then load the save game prior to the latest. You do use more than a single save game file, don't you?
I typically use at least two save game files for each patrol, MISSION_## and MISSION_##_PATROL - and alternate saves between the two files. I will save the game after, or before a major event like inserting troops, entering a port for photo recon, attacking a task force, upon reaching the 1000 mile radius of my home port, etc~ It may not be the best method, but it prevents me from losing to awful much if something goes horribly wrong like it has with you.
Save game files can hold a LOT of information and the more info, the more likely that something will be screwed. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen. I am never afraid to save a game at any time, day, night, surfaced, submerged, contacts, no contacts- it doesn't matter much for me. But other people insist that you should treat saves like fine china- save on the surface at full stop, calm seas, no contacts, etc~ To each his (or her) own, I suppose.
:sunny:
I would go along with Joe. I don't think it really matters about being on the surface, far from land, etc., etc. I think people are projecting from their experiences with SH3.
If you cannot salvage your latest patrol and the saves seem inexplicably messed up, it could be that you have a mod problem that requires attention. I've only had problems once with a save not loading, and that turned out to be because of a new mod and conflicts.

i have more than 22 save games, one do every time after sunk a ship, 1 before enter in the canal for reach Kiel ( if you know what i mean ), and one when i was in the port of kiel and i must attrach....another problem is the fact that i can't go out from the map view....for example...i was watching the map, if i go in the controll room all is ok, but if i try to use the external free come, or go to the bridge of the uboot, the game CTD, the same thing happen in the canal before reach kiel...i can't watch out of my uboot, but only after an half of the canal and in the port of kiel.
You should post your full mod list. Someone may be able to figure out what's going on. I haven't played OM myself, so I can't give you any specific help.

I see you've asked this question in the SubSim "SH4 ATO Mods" section (which is where I'd expect a better answer) but notice you haven't had much of a response there. I'll see if I can help.
here my mod list
RSRDC_SH15_V550
RSRDC_V5xx_Patch1
OpsMonsun_V705
OMv705_to_V720
OMv720_Patch5
OMEGU_v300
OMEGU_v300_Patch7
i use MultiSH4....
You're obviously wanting to play the German side of the game in the Atlantic theater (with the inclusion of the Operation Monsun mods). You have them right, and in the order of activation correct.....but you should not have "RSRDC_SH15_V550" and its "V5xx_Patch1" with Operation Monsun.
Version 550 of Run Silent, Run Deep Campaign is intended for a stock SH4 version 1.5 game only.....no other mods loaded (except for those that state their compatible with RSRDC V550, and its patch). Don't use them together with OM. RSRDC can be used when playing either the American or German side.....in the Pacific theater. Just don't expect to play in the Atlantic with RSRDC.
One other thing, you didn't mention what are your computer specs? Just like not telling us what mods your using with OM....in your first post.....you haven't told us how much memory you have to run the game. CTD's are very likely from lacking enough memory, as much as not having the right mods activated. The more information we have, the better the answer will be. :)

I'm sorry, but again you haven't told us what we need to know.
Working on assumptions is not going to help you. For instance, I'm assuming you have JSGME loaded. But, since you haven't stated so, I'm only guessing that's how you have the mods loaded in-game. I'm only guessing but, ......in order to remove your first couple of mods from your list (if that's how they were loaded in JSGME), you would need to remove each mod, in the order they were added, to get to the first couple of RSRDC mods, removing them. Doing a removal of a mod out of sequence, will cause all kinds of trouble with corrupted files left in the game.
The way you know for sure that the stock game files are still intact is to use the JSGME "Task..." menu (found in the center of the open JSGME page) and have JSGME "Compare a Snapshot" image of the files you have now.....compared to the "Snapshot" of the game files when you first added JSGME to your game. You take this first "Snapshot" before ever adding your first mod to a clean install of the game (no point in taking a "Snapshot" of a modded game that may already be corrupted!). Removing all mods from the game files, then using the "Compare" feature, will tell you if there are added, changed, removed files from the original stock game files. If so......You'll need to do an uninstall.....then a clean reinstall of the game (including deleting your mods you have downloaded, and download a clean group of them too..... mod files can get corrupted too if you don't handle them right in JSGME.....Remember last mod IN, first mod OUT).
Yes, reusing a stored Campaign file, or saved mission point, after switching mods around is going to cause more trouble!! The game keeps track of what files are loaded when it saves a point......you remove or change a file that it looks for when it trys to replay a saved point again.....CTD's is what you'll get.

Remove OMEGU and the OMEGU patch. I had lots of crashes in OM with OMEGU activated and not a single crash without it. Good luck!
