That is incredible news!

If it really is a part of the legendary missing treasures then an important piece of human heritage has been restored.

Can't say I'm all that surprised....greed often conquers all.

I do do wonder how many forgeries are in the collection. Forging art was rife in the 20s and 30s.

They said on TV today that after the recent record prices paid for pieces of arts during auctions, the treasure possibly could be worth billions on the market. YES: plural.

I offer a deal. I offer 1500 scribbles for one CVG plus downsized battle group. :D

Sounds like the bloke at the centre of this has done a runner.

Great news that lost painting have been 'rediscovered' but will any of this art be placed into museums so that the public can view it, or will it be sold off to rich collectors and lost again. Expect that it could be hard to prove ownership without receipts.

Not surprised...and probably has one or two items with him if he has any sense :)

That's one of the interesting things. They are not planning to publish a list of what's in the collection leaving the onus on the families of the owners or the owners themselves if still alive to claim them. Possibly easier for those that were looted from museums or galleries, but much harder for private owners.
