I recently decided to update my Generic Patcher, so I went and downloaded it, then moved it to the mods folder and activated all the patches as normal.
But when I try to launch the game, it now freezes on the loading screen and says things like "#OPEN ERROR:# data/menu/skins/german/gui/upgrade/Periscope.dds"
:/\\!!
It comes up with this for many different things like flags and such.:hmmm:
I am not sure what is causing this and how to fix it.
Any blinding insights will be accepted. :)
Did you review the patches, didnt activate experimental ones ? There are a few patches you dont want to activate, marked by yellow exclamation marks. You probably know this tho ;)
Are those path's valid ? is that file located there ?
How did you patch ? By putting the patcher in the sh5 folder and running it, or by copying the needed files from your sh5 install dir to a seperate folder and installing the bunch as a mod (if last, you sure you copied the right files?) ?
version ?
Just a few things that come to mind .. afaik, you know more about this stuff then me .. so it's probably none of the above :p

I have been reviewing the patches for quite a while, going one after the other searching for the cause.
I am using the Latest version available and I have launched the application from the SH5 directory.
And I did disable all the patches from the older version.
...
I am working on finding the fault at the moment, so if I make a breakthrough, I will reveal it here.
Did you start with a clean and untouched sh5.exe or with a patched and then unpatched sh5.exe ? Since the patcher alters more then just the patches to the .exe, you should probably start with a fresh copy of all the files that are touched by the patcher, it adds stuff to different .act files. They have been altered by the previous patcher already I think. Possibly this causes the error.
For this reason, I'd install the patcher as a mod. To do this, copy the needed .act files together with sh5.exe into a folder where you unpacked the patcher. Run it from that folder, by pointing it at the files in that folder. Then install that folder as a mod using JSGME. That way you can always go back to untouched files ;)
Did you back those files up ? If not, you'd have to reinstall I'm affraid.

My install probably is in need of a re-install, because it has been heavily polluted from all the experiments I have done with it, so I might give that a try after I finish backing some things up.
