What should I look out for when modding the Steam version of SH5?

The steam version will mod ok with ALL mods:up:
Only TDWs exe patcher (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=181433) will not work

but the game without tdw's patcher it's crap ... it's full with bugs almost unplayable

it was my understanding that quite a few mods are based on the modded exe and for that reason some mods wont work right on the steam version because the exe isn't modded.

Quite the reverse: a few patches require the enabling of a particular mod to fully work.
These "minor" mods are usually included in the same package as the patcher, and are not advertised/distributed as stand-alone mods. The one exception to this rule is the patch making ships' radio equipment destructible. It requires FX Updates to work, but Fx Updates can still be used without the patch. :yep:
