I recently been having CTD after playing the sim for 3hrs (+/-). It's usually after having a successful encounter with a convoy/task force that's used a lot of inputs (Keyboard/mouse) but before an auto-save has occurred. Grrr.
However today I cannot load the game successfully at all. I can select play from the Ubisoft home page, the saved games synchronise from the server OK. I can select either load game or load last auto-save game and the program starts booting. The SH5 preamble pages come and go to the blank screen and then the crash back to the Ubisoft home page.
Computer specs:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.7GHz
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service
RAM 8GB
NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450
Standard Memory Config 1GB
Memory Clock 1804MHz
Ubisoft setting: Cloud Save Synchronisation not enabled.
SH5 mod list: See attachments.
SH5 Validation: Can be supplied if required.
Dgbview: Can someone tell me how to generate this please. I've found the Dgbview.exe in the Apps folder, what do I do?
Any help with the CTD will be much appreciated, however I am adequately PC savvy but definately not into program writing or at that level. :)

Go to your SH5 exe icon that you start the game with . Right click / Properties/ Compatability . Run for windows 7 . Run as administrator .
Use this mod list .

How long is your patrol before the ctd happens.
The longer the patrol - the larger the save file.
When you run out of torps - end patrol rather than refit. This will keep the patrol save file smaller and less glitchy:hmmm:

Ahh, I didn't know that, thanks for the advice. I've been refitting in excess of 6-10 times on a patrol.

Run the DbgView app before running the game. Anything 'spit out' by the game will be recorded in the DbgView screen.

Patience is wearing thin and frustration is winning.
Following the problems I was having with the CTD after playing for 3 hours+/-, even though I hadn't done any refits, and managing to maul a decent sized convoy the game still crashed on me. So.... I decided to do a complete delete and bin the game, all the mods and the mod enabler.
The fresh install created problems with the JSGME thread Generic Mods Enabler fault. (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=206691) but thanks to mikemike47 and some deleting/ amending and reinstalling I've got the JSGME enabler working and the mods enabled.
Things were looking good as the game loaded well, but after skipping the tutorial it crashed 3 times before I was out of the bunker or even on board the sub. After the 3rd attempt I followed TDW advice on using the dbg.viewer, this time I was 75% out of Kiel harbour using Trevally's Harbour Pilot when I suffered another CTD.
Help.......!!! I have the dbgview log file but its 2900kb in size so not really an attachment.
Thanks for your patience and any help.

I stumbled across this issue as I restarted with SH5 a few weeks ago. Used as a start the all-in-one download wich includes only OHII v2. Only after going over sober's download links and so getting the most recent versions.
No more CTD's
