I was having a problem with Parts Magui and thought I needed to reload the game.
I uninstalled the game. Deleted the SH5 folder in 'Documents' as well as the Ubisoft folder.
I reinstalled the game. Patched it to 1.2. Started a new career, ran the tutorial, docked at Kiel and saved and exited. I loaded my mods including Parts Magui and patch. Loaded my game and everything is there. After reaching deep waters, I asked for a 'depth under keel' report and got it. I clicked on the 'periscope depth' button and it crashes. All other commands work. Just the periscope depth doesn't. Anyone have an idea why?

Nope. But what periscope depth button?
Did you tried the P keyboard?

Since you said in your earlier statement that "problem with Parts Magui and thought I needed to reload the game." You said you loaded the mod again, not reinstalled it. I am suspecting something may be corrupt from your previous problem. Possibly this "Parts Magui and patch" mod needs to be deleted completely from your modlist. If using JSGME and you disable all your mods, nothing should be left behind in "Your drive letter:\Silent Hunter 5\MODS\!BACKUP folder."

Reinstall "Parts Magui and patch" from a saved backup file or re-downloaded, etc. and entered properly again into the mods folder. Then see what happens with periscope depth.

The rest below maybe a mute point if the above situation solves it.

I do not use "Parts Magui and patch". I speculate it has some interface similar to New Uis for TDC (which I use) where you click on an icon as in the the Chief Engineer- Periscope Depth button? New UIs uses a periscope depth button, no chief engineer.

We need your mods list for starters to decipher what is overriding or causing a conflict in your commands.cfg files relating to the persiscope depth command. I would suspect that the periscope depth command is used for another command, too.

Can you do a search for commands. cfg in the mods folder. What mods from your modlist has a commands.cfg file?

(I make my own commands.cfg file for voice recognition. Ironically, in my situation, some commands interfere with New UIs for TDC since I see the left toolbars flash briefly when pressing some key command I created. The keyboard command never crashes my game. One of TDW latest versions of New UIs for TDC has a hotkeys_report.txt option now, perhaps that information will help others someday, too.)

Have u tried the advance setting and compass ribbon; just set the precise depth and use shift-V to crash dive and adjust the dive depth as u are headed to 60 meters. Also double check your down load from ubiplay. They messed up an update and I didn't have the compass, depth or return-to-course blue icon. if all else fails call 919-460-9778-their techs were very nice considering I am computer dyslexic. good luck kaleun:arrgh!:

Thanks to everyone's response. As for my mod soup. I know it's right because I followed Fifi's list for Magui.

To MikeMike47; I followed your advice and deleted the Magui mods, re-downloaded and re-installed. That did the trick. I never suspected something might be wrong with the mod. More than likely, I did something wrong. Anyway, thanks to your advice, it works.

Once again, thanks to all. :salute:

Fifi modlist is great, so is sobers and sjizzle's. I just happen to use sober's for so long, but will get information to keep current with newer mods from the other two subsimmers.

Oh-yah, most likely the mod get corrupted. It has happened to me when you uninstall mods then reinstall over the years. I made some mistakes going too fast.

So bottom line when all else fails: Check by using JSGME and disable all your mods, nothing should be left behind in "Your drive letter:\Silent Hunter 5\MODS\!BACKUP folder."

Then remove suspected bad mod by deleting completely from your modlist.
Reinstall mod from a saved backup file or re-downloaded, etc. and entered properly again into the mods folder.

If you are not sure what mod is corrupt, you have to disable each mod individually starting from last installed, run a game test, until problem is found.

Generally speaking for modsoup issues, newer mods get installed over older mods.

It started doing it again. I took out each mod 1 by 1 and discovered it was the MCCD mod. How can I get around this? With it, I get 'depth under keel' and ' returning to course' from the Navigator, but it crashes whether I use the 'periscope depth' button or set my depth with my guage. Without it, I can use the 'periscope depth', but I don't get a reply on asking for 'depth under keel' or 'return to course'.

Does it conflict with Mighty fine crew?

Is there a work around?

You must activate "MCCD_1.04_MFCM_1.2.1_compatible" after Mighty Fine Crew to avoid any issue
