One very disappointing aspect of SH is the lack of fighting to keep water out of the boat And the (INSTANT DEATH Sean) ...

There should be water levels coming up to your neck, after sinking in shallow water and making repairs to surface the boat, as in the historical account of a boat that sank to the bottom and after repairs could resurface safely with water coming up to the neck before water pumps were repaired which the move Das Boot is likely loosely based on, a similar event did in fact happen.

Advanced Mod idea ...

Rising water inside the sub till the bitter end no death Sean. Perhaps even being able to swim to the surface as a last attempt to live, and a rescue or POW Sean depending on if an SOS was sent. perhaps a scuttle or abandon ship option when repairs get hopeless.

Also please More working parts to the ship toilet room, Christmastree lights box working, spinning record on gramophone, more working interaction with switches NO on screen distraction text. Example the opening and closing of doors is nice with out using some other button

The one thing I can't complain about is the SH5 model of the ship, too bad they never took the time to make all the gages and switches workable and usable!

The mod soup note was interesting ....

I recently almost completed a mod soap...when I noticed after replacing a large number of sounds with new sound .wavs of different sizes ....

Now I have the problem that the diesel Int sound no longer plays even though its in there and I have tested it...

My theory is that the .wav files should be exactly the same size but I'm not sure....any Idea on how to fix this other then putting all the old wav files BACK I will be very Irate if the problem doesn't go away after I set it back.

Your mod soap fix may fix this problem but brake an other for example the gramophone that I was lucky to get working?

3D sounds, including diesel loop, can only have one channel. Use Audacity or any other sound editor to make your sound file mono :03:

If it worked in the past, what made it to stop working? Any recent change to your mod list? :hmm2:

yes that is correct, sounds need to be "almost" an exact replacement as far as size and duration or they simply do not play or you get CTD issues.

as far as the gramophone, just take notes as you do things and you will figure out how you fixed it or someone else will know how if you ask.

the problem with death is in order to drag it out to give you the "fight for your life" thing it ends up making the sub so unrealistic to any kinds of damage since you have to make it completely indestructible to any damage so it has to sink from flooding. it is a hard coded damage model issue and no one has figured out how to successfully work around it

Thank you for the confirmation on my theory so you think it has nothing to do with some other mod conflict from the mod enabler as you describe the problem in mod soup?

PS I notices some other sounds are cut short. So I will restore some originals and hope my lovely diesel sounds return, now all I get is Electric motor INT doesn't matter submerged or on the surface.

About the boat death........ I think your over complicating it, there can be a water level graphic inside that matches the % of flooding and ballast can be released to stop sinking as the boat loses boyency its a race against time in deep water to stop leaking before the point of no return is reached and the boat heavy with water sinks uncontrollably. In the case of 100% flooding the death sean can be that your under water and can hold your breath for about 60s before swimming to the surface if not too deep, if not fade to black unconscious, game over
Ich hatt' einen Kameraden (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyBiQaVyLMM) music plays. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiKMT_RQUU0

There was a very old game 1980s? "Silent service" I think with 2D graphics that did this, if you make the decision to blow ballast fast enough you can stop sinking , maintain a depth and have enough time to stop water leaks if its not too bad I think to be realistic the damage leaking Litres per minute must not exceed a high level when in water where the depth exceeds crush depth in order to survive, but if you run out of ballast and crash to the bottom in a safe depth then you have enough time IF you conserve oxygen to make repairs and re-float to the surface again before ruining out of air such things have happened in U boat history.

I cant get the diesel loop to play again:/\\!! WTF? help I'm lost at sea with this one.
