As the new royal baby will also be the future monarch of Australia, I am sure it will be out in no time. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

If the royal baby was an Australian cricketer it would be out by now. :har:
If Australia do lose the next test match they will have lost seven in a row twice, but have yet to join England, which has achieved this ‘feat’ three times: in 1950, 1986 and 1992. Of the major test playing nations West Indies (2000) and India (1967) have also lost seven in a row. Only Zimbabwe and Bangladesh have lost more, with Bangladesh holding the record with 21.

James Pattinson ruled out of remaining Tests
Australia fast bowler James Pattinson will miss the rest of the Ashes series against England after suffering a stress fracture of the lower back.
"Unfortunately he will not take any further part in this Test series," said Australia team doctor Peter Brukner.
The tourists say they have no immediate plans to call up a replacement, which could mean a recall for Mitchell Starc.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/23414036
I'm not so sure they'll miss him that much seeing as how Shane Warne and Liz Hurley (she's the one that bowls the bouncers) have been called into the squad.

So the royal baby has been born and it's a boy.
However the Aussies are going to waste another review and see if it's actually out.
So are you going to win the thirds test and the series :hmm2::)
That is yet to be seen. Clarke thinks we can. O think he's dreaming.
Pattinson will not be missed greatly as he's been largely ineffective in the last two tests. The batsmen are the problem. I don't think we need wholesale changes to the team but we do need wholesale change in the way we bat. There is little patience being shown at the crease.

:har: Well said and so true! The {our?} younger generation seem to think they can do no wrong...:haha:, I hate the DRS; take your pennance and deal with it. If you got yourself close enough to being out that it has to go under the microscope then you obviously famoused up. sometimes you'll get away with it, sometimes you won't, Umpire's call, final.

Watson's looking a bit shaky but then so are most of the top order. Don;t see it making much difference TBH. Unless they change their batting style and stop following the ball around like young puppys with no clue.

Dunno about their relationship. I'd say that like most team dynamics you're going to get a variety of good and bad relationships and that will change over time. The press like to make something of it but unless you are in the camp with the team you're never going to have the full story.

Our mob have been trying to make something of it for the past 3 months or so leading up to this tour. Particularly came out when Arthur was sacked as coach and he disclosed that Clarke had apparently said Watson was a cancer in the team or some such.

Cricket Australia have already said that they won't be taking further action. Unless the Yarpies arc up nothing will happen. Can't see them doing anything as it was their keeper that got physical. Obviously he was concerned about Warners comments about his parentage.

England unchanged; Pietersen passed fit
Aus: Warner, Lyon & Starc included
Aus: Hughes, Agar & Pattinson make way
Pitch looks in good nick. We'll see if we can post a total now. If they can't do it on this pitch they never will.
What's the weatherman say? Looks a little cloudy oop narf.

29 without loss...not a bad start when considering recent form.

Aussies will now try to reach 500 and if so that will be the first time this series that England will be put under pressure.
First day definitely to the Aussies...lots more cricket due yet.
Yep. Good captain's knock by Clarke ably supported by Smith. Some bad choices by England in using DRS this time around.
A total of 500 odd will give us something to bowl at. The pommy batsmen will be a bit tired after two days of running a round the park chasing boundaries. :D
A little over an hour to go before the start of play. Looking forward to seeing a big total being racked up before letting the bowlers loose on the pommy batsmen.

This is the first time a decent first innings score has been achieved which should mean a win at best or at least a draw.

Uphill from now on unless we get at least two centurions....and a bit help from the weather :)
Gooooood morning England. Gotta love waking up to the news that the poms are under the cosh. Two good days of cricket by the Aussies but still plenty of cricket yet to come. This should spark some life back into the series.

329 now so Clarke will have to bat but must gamble on a total England will try to reach when they bat again.
Clarke must win this match for the sake of Aussie pride...a draw and a possible series loss would be devastating for the fledgling regime, not to mention the failure to get the Ashes back.

Day and a half to play with iffy weather in the offing. I'd say we want at least 300 if not 350 if we can get them quick enough then bowl the poms out with half a day to go.

Cloudy with rain persisting for much of the day, very heavy at times with a risk of thundery bursts and localised flooding. Towards evening the rain will ease and slowly clear eastwards, perhaps allowing some late brightness in the west.

TBH I don't think your lot did enough in their second innings to give Clarke many choices.
A full final days play chasing 350ish was probably doable but the expected weather breaks today are going to eat into those 98 overs so if there is say a two hour loss or thereabouts I can only see this gaming petering out.

Maybe. If I'm honest we needed to get your mob out earlier to stand a real chance of avoiding the draw. Another missed DRS chance when Pieterson was in his 60's might have given the game a different complexion. Que sera sera. All we can do is play what's in front of us and get wickets.

Jimbuna
08-10-13, 04:54 AM
238-9 at close of play so the Aussies win the day by far.
Now we'll see if our bowlers can be as effective on a pitch that is doing nothing.
Come on TarJak, surely you have something to crow about at long last :)
Get your bloody act together England, retaining the ashes due to a out of date silly regulations is rubbish in my book. Win this match and that is a order got that!

Can't believe I've not come across this earlier:
Broad stars as England win Ashes
An inspired spell of fast bowling from Stuart Broad catapulted England to a 74-run win over Australia in the fourth Test and sealed victory in the Ashes series.
Chasing 299 for victory, Australia were well placed on 168-2 but lost their next eight wickets for 56 runs as they collapsed to 224 all out.

Well done to the English Cricket Team. Good to see them showing their class http://m.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=11114674 :nope:
Part 2 kicked off this morning in Brisbane. Australia is 1-30 after only half an hour. :nope: Surprised the poms appear to be all asleep at the moment.
Honours are fairly even at lunch 2-71
Yet another top order collapse. And down to the middle and lower order to put some runs on. 5-110 :nope:
Haddin and Johnson bringing a bit of respectability to the score 6-228
8-273 at stumps. Yet another poor day at the crease from our mob. The bowling attack will need to be on top form.

6 wickets for 39 runs in that session. Brilliant effort by the Aussie bowlers. Johnson is having a cracker.

Maybe by you, but I'm surprised that a bloke with the 3 lions tattooed on his arm would diminish the efforts of his team in this way. An Ashes series is an Ashes series regardless of how long its been between them. The teams don't see this series as being unimportant and neither do thousands of supporters on both sides.
On the actual cricket, its good to see our bowlers doing well and the pommy batsmen crumbling, but I don't think our mob has the ticker to win the series despite being hopeful that they will. Our batting top order has been way too fragile for too long. I still think I'll be buying in July regardless of the outcome of this match.
