TDW SH5Patcher (doesnt work with the steam version of the game)
Need to have 1.20 game version to use TDW GenericPatcher
Befor use the patcher make a backup of
sh5.exe
SHCollisions.act
SHSim.act
SHSound.act
SH_NClient.dll
SimData.dll
CameraManager.act
IMPORTANT
################################################## ######################################
TDW GenericPatcher it's a stand alone aplication do not enabled it with JGSME
u can enable the patches befor or after u have enabled the mod list. No need to restart career to activate e new version of patcher Activate the patcher when u are in bunker.
When a new patcher it's released or u have a old one DISABLE ALL PATCHES WITH THE OLD ONE THEN ENABLE IT WITH NEW PATCHER

Recommendation For Beginer

If u have the latest version of TDW's Genericpatcher do not enable patches from Advanced User.
If u don't have the lates version of TDW's GenericPatcher then do not enable the fallowing patches:
- Disable Orbit Listener checks in main game loops
- Disable Orbit Listener account sharing check
- Render Patch ( from render patch u can enable the fallowing patches 1, 2, 3, 10, 11, 13,14 )

to enable the patches u can do it manualy or restor a snapshot click file and then restore Snapshot
to restore a snapshot u need somebody snapshot file the .gps file

You could add little precision: no need to restart career, or wait for bunker to activate new patcher version...you can do it anytime.

But the better way is to do it in the bunker.. because who knows???
:) yes, who knows...Bunker is still safer way, but just saying from own experience...changed patcher dozens times in patrol, and reloading save was always ok. No bug/glitches/issues noticed.

As safe measures for the new comers you might want to mention backing up those 5 files before patching them. I know its mentioned in other places but the question still gets asked. :)

Thanks for creating this documentation for TDW GenericPatcher and your work on charts. The TDW GenericPatcher has changed greatly in the last 10-20 versions.
It would be a great idea if you can ask TDW to add this help link to the bottom of post #1 of
[TEC] SH5.exe patches to fix bugs and add functionality (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=181433)

stop the uplay and and if u have that error the go to task manager and kill
sh5 processes, uplay processes

Hmmm, I was thinking along same lines but there's no Ubi, Uplay or SH5 process to kill. Same message, but I get a follow up message too which says it doesn't recognise the exe. The exe I'm using is from a fresh install patched to v1.2. It's a 4278 KB SH5 Application last modified 21/4/10 at 10:51
Not sure if it's relevant but the patch tells me I'm now playing SH5 Gold Edition, which is news to me but does it use another exe?

Well, I've lost count of re-installs and registry clean ups and every time the same so I think I'll just continue and see if it applies the patches

Further down the line, having ignored the error messages, I find a path needed to SimData.dll which is not in this thread's list of files to back up. Perhaps it should be?

After reviewing and printing Trevally's original "How to use TDW's patcher in SH5 workshop and Sjizzle's How to Use TDW Generic patcher for Beginner in SH5 Mods Workshop I realized u can not use Generic Mod Enabler to activate the patch. You must ... per Sjizzler use "gps" file and save as gps file in Patches file.....
I did it and now I do not crash to desktop:<)
I still do not have human audio from Hydro of target props.... but I cn play again....
I posted this in another thread... \"Did I make a mistake when I elected True for every item in the five files ... sometimes there were 3 or more items.... are they alternatives?

What else am I missing that is preventing me from hearing the prop rotation noise of the target at the hydro station?
Some mods specifically state do not enable full mod... select first what option u want..... and enable that submod via Gen Mod Enabler...
I will go through these mods and id them and post them after I assemble the read me file and forum threads on each....
Could someone with the modding reputations like TheDarkWraith, FiFi, Sjizzle, Trevally, Gap... etc post a confirmation on how to enable the patch for us.... (if I left someone out I apologize)

No, you didn't. Starting with v1.0.100.0 (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=2062739&postcount=1972), the patcher checks that interdependent patches are all enabled (when you enabled at least one of them) before actually patching the game. On the contrary, there are not reciprocally incompatible patches, a far as I can remember.
In any case, before enabling any patch it is alway a good idea to read its tooltip to make sure that it suits your needs and for getting instructions on its correct usage. Also note that several patches require you to enable some additional tweaks through JSGME or to activate them through New UI's options editor, in order to work properly.

Can you make an example? Some patches are grouped on the basis of their functionality, but before giving you a definitive answer I need to know what you are talking about exactly. :hmmm:

Of course you can, but beware that it will remove the U-boat mark from the map, and before getting used to it you will likely get lost a dozen of times. Yet, once you get accustomed your fun will be doubled :up:

You didn't answer my question (or I missed it): are you testing the hydrophone using always the same test mission?
Also, have you tried with no mods enabled?
There is a little chance that some audio files or the sound settings of some ships got corrupted. Locating you problem could get very long though, and at this point I am afraid that you best option is to re-install the game :-?

I guess you are referring in particular to a folder of New UI's. If so, yes you are correct: you should enable just one of the mods contained in that folder. They are scope mods, IIRC. :hmm2:

Yes I am using only the last historical mission wherein the target is a freighter to my east moving west. It is perfect to practice hydro target solution.
B4 reinstalling game I am going to start... one at a time installing the mods in my list...

Let me start off by stating thank you for all of your help.
I got it working again. What does not work yet is human audio for Hydro:<) I even have Dead Reconing. I do not have larger ruler and protractor ... I will work on those two items next.
Procedure Employed:
I made sure I properly used the generic patcher.
I removed every mod and started one by one testing after patching.
Two would result in CTD. THey included: DyNam 2.9, Mighty Fine Crew.

Using magui.gps from Sjizzle and trying to use the Generic Patcher. After doing all that Stuff i get APPcrash on start. Dont even get the Uplay Launcher.

After deactivating all Changes the Game runs fine.
Now i need to find out what is causing the Problem with the CTD. Something related to TDWs Patcher.
But wich one is the Problem on Sjizzles Snapshot File? Or is it something else.

I foudn out that it has something to do with the Modification in SH5.exe. Im trying Trail and Error now switching Option son and Off and See if Game starts.

New Problem:
Starting new Carrer in Memel Port Costal Waters. After 5 Minutes out of Port the Right Lower and left Panel dissapears and i saved and loaded again. getting on Peri Depth and CTD.

It's time to give us a complete modlist. If you suspect it's a mod, it is best to add a post to that particular thread.
We need a screenshot of what you enabled for the TDW patcher. Read the TDW patcher (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=181433) thread for any clues on why it possibly causes CTDs in the mean time. I remember others talking about not to enable some render patches or advanced user settings.

Why do you enable stoianm pitch&roll for SH5 V1 after Stoianm pitch&roll + Real Battery Lifetime + U-boats.cfgs (edited+modified for engine ratio patches) :o
and you don't need New Torpedoes Explosion - FX Update add-on if you're using FX Update 0.0.22..
and you should use mod for FX torpedoes instead of FX_Update_0_0_22__Stock_Torpedoes (modified for torpedoes failure patches).. this one is for the stock game as you can see in its name..

How can i Post my Complete Modlist without typing it? Is there any possibility of Copy&Paste?
Same for the TDW patcher Settings.
Copy your modlist to clipboard, or CTRL + C (copy). After you hit the reply with quote button, see the # icon in upper right corner? (Wrap [CODE] tags around selected text.) Click the # and will appear. Move your cursor between the . Perform paste operation. Modlist is between the now.

Is this Generic File Patcher v1.0.149.0 testing with Silent Hunter 5 Gold Edition?
Because if a start sh5.exe i get the 0xc0000005 error.

I was under the impression that when I enable a mod using JSGME, it backups the files it is about to change to the JSGME MOD folder of the mod you are about to enable, and copies the new files over to the game's base install dir ?
If that's the case, which it seems to be from testing, would enabling the patches before installing the NewUI mod not give issues with post-patch altered .act files ?

I have the exact same issue as Mehring1917 Even with the latest Patcher. Fresh install Updated to 1.2 Fallowed the instructions from this thread so i don't know what i did wrong.

I don't have steam version and i checked in my applications that are running all that stuff is closed no U play no SH5 Same scenario as Mehring1917. i followed what peopel replied to help him... SO far it's pretty much the exact same scenario... and i think i got the latest version of the patcher from this site.
UPDATE.Well I Ended up Renstallign the game and now it works. No errors... O-o

So I followed your tutorial Sjizzle, and more or less activated the same stuff that you have. Not all though.
Since I did this, I am having lots of problems with my torpedos. They never explode.
Some detonate way early, other start to stray left and right, but most are dud. I have not had a singel detonation on target since using the patcher:)
Are the torpedos really this unpredictable?
Did you instal FX_Update_0_0_22_Torpedoes (modified for torpedoes failure patches)? Look in Notes section in Patcher

Should I install all the fx torpedos update? And can I do It now, or must it be in a spesific order? Must I unpatch the exe allso`?

To the best of my knowledge, neither NewUI nor any other mod do alter act files :hmm2:

Ig I got him right, he only made a copy of the files affected by TDW's patches, patched them, and enabled them using JSGME as if they were a normal mod. Since no other mod affects the same files, file conflicts or mod order are not an issue. To my understanding, following the above steps hasn't any side effect and it is the best way to keep stock files clean, in case TDW changes patcher version or something goes wrong during the patching process. :yep:

The TDW****.dll files do not come from the TDW patcher but from TDW's New UIs for TDC.

I know .. what I did is create a folder in my JSGME 'MODS' folder for the generic patcher, installed all my mods except that one, copied over the TDWUtils and FileUtils.dll to that generic patcher folder in my JSGME 'MODS' folder, including any missing .act files.
At this point my generic patcher folder contains the current state of my gamefiles, including the .exe and any and all files acted on or needed by the generic patcher.
I now use the patcher, and enable/change whatever I want and close the patcher.
Now I use JSGME to install the 'mod'.
Whenever I want to add or remove a mod, I first disable the 'patcher mod', which should bring my game folder back to pre-patch state, and then I disable/update the rest of my mods.
The goal is to keep it relatively easy to plug stuf in or change things, without going full FUBAR all the time and needing to keep a copy of a clean SH5 install to revert to every time I screw up :p

No, no, no. No to install. I did not spot if you use New UIs for TDC as I quickly scanned past posts. Unless you see some advantage to installing these TDW***.dlls to the root folder, see a benefit without the use of New UIs for TDC being installed as a mod?

I'm afraid I don't follow.
I went back to page 1 of this thread and re-read Sjizzle's instructions. Basically he walks you through targeting the files that the patcher is going to modify.
But he does not talk about the MODS folder at all.
I have run the patcher and enabled the patches I want.
What do I do with the mods folder? Anything?
My impression was that this latest version of the patcher is stand-alone and does not work like a mod?

What are you referring to here? Mods folder within TDW_GenericPatcher_v1_0_149_0\MODS? Mods folder from SH5\Mods since I am talking about making the generic patcher moddable with JSGME? Mods folder from SH5\Mods is created by JSGME.

True. But you can make it a mod like I said AFTER making the patch changes for it. A mod is basically folders and files AS IS that will overwrite stock folders and files through the magic of JSGME.
Maybe a picture is worth a thousand words here. Here is Generic patcher as a mod AFTER I made the changes just like Sjizzle, you or I did according to the instructions. Once it is enabled by JSGME, you can open up the root folder of SH5 and see that the stock file versions have been overwritten.

Yes I know it isn't. That doesn't answer my question in regards to another mod that I wanted to use. The new TDW Generic patcher has some fixes for AOB resets after using stadimeter.
My question is this mod, TDW_gui_aob_reset_fix useless with the new Generic Patch?

Hello Michal or anyone else who can help with this issue: How do you fix the 0xc0000005 error? I can't seem to resolve this no matter what I try :/\\!! Here is the message I keep getting everytime I apply TDW_GenericPatcher_v_1_0_149_0:
sh5.exe - Application Error
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Click OK to close the application.
Her is what I've done:
1.) Only installed from DVD Gold edition - have never owned the Steam version.
2.) Complete uninstall and clean re-install of SH5 including (and verifying) update to v. 1.2. With each uninstall, I clean all SH5 files and folders from my system. I have done this at least 4 times.
3.) Painstakingly follow each and everyone of the directions in this post to install patch. Note: no error messages during install steps.
4.) Set UbiPlay to off-line mode before attempting to run generic patcher
5.) Ensure each time that UbiPlay is not running in the background before attempting to install generic patcher
4.) Attempted to start SH5 with patches activated and no patches activated - same result.
5.) Tried both Sjizzle.gps and the gps file that comes with the Wolves of Steel mega mod. Both seemed to install cleanly - but to no avail.
6.) Tried generic patcher to both a fresh clean install (v1.2) and after the Wolves of Steel mod applied (per those directions). Still get the (0xc0000005) error.
This is driving me crazy :wah: Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. It appears from his post that Michal fixed this - would love to know how! Also - I apologize if I missed an obvious fix: I searched the forum in reference to this error, and this was the only directly related post I could find. Thanks in advance!

Using the manual process you enable patches one by one. TDW's patcher also supports the loading of "snapshots", i.e. user defined patch collections. They are a way to enable the wanted patches in a few clicks, rather than enabling them manually.
Most mega mods come with their own snapshot (recommended if you are adopting one of them), but you can as well define your own snapshot for quick disabling/re-enabling of your custom patch list. :yep:

If you do it manually, then enable the patch, the patch then does the rest. You don't have to drop the files to a location.

yes, I am going by memory but if the patches have a check mark by their name, they should be enabled already

Most patches don't require any additional editing. A few patches (ship damage control, ship radio, torpedo failure, etc.), require the enabling of additional files and/or external mods though (through JSGME). If you have enabled a megamod, and loaded its own snapshot (via patcher), those files are already in your JSGME list. Otherwise you should read carefully the short instructions of each patch you have enabled (via patcher), and enable (via JSGME) the additional mods eventually required. :yep:

P.S: forgot to mention that some patches (manual dive plane control, deck awash, electric engine control, etc.) require the correpsonding New UI's options enabled through New UI's option editor. Failing to do so would make those patches to miss UI support :yep:

Thanks Sjizzle, it would be great if you mention you must use the relevant (FX Update or not) torpedo mod to avoid circling torps.
It is possible to get this to work with Steam, but you have to get the non-steam SH5.exe from inside the ubi 1.02 patch file.

Got myself in a spot of bother here...
I bought the game on steam a few days ago... realised it was broken and came here. Downloaded some great mods and was really enjoying my career but the more I read the forums the more I realised I needed to use TDW patcher to fix so many bugs. So I deleted my steam version and bought another Uplay copy which tried to make me install it through steam....:o got it installed without steam and used TDW patcher. Looks like lots of good stuff in the patcher .
Used JSGME to reinstall the mods I had been using for days with no CTDs and game won't run. CTD, CTD, CTD can't run a single historical mission.
So I removed all the mods and tried with just TDW patched- CTD. So I pasted the copies of the 6 files that Sjillze's guide for using the TDW patcher says to back up. But when I try to run the game there are still changes made by TDW patcher and it CTD.
How do I undo TDW patcher? It doesn't use JSGME like all the other mods?
I tried reinstalling the game but now Uplay is making me download it again. unfortunately I have to pay by the gig . :/\\!!
Is there a way to remove TDW patcher if you are getting CTD after using it?
Are all the files that TDW patcher changes in the main Silent Hunter folder? It seems the 7 files is an incomplete list
Well now I find that the patcher has backups of the files 9 files not 7.

Taken me a nano second to google subsim options editor but you wouldn't know that if you didn't know it was called the options editor .

Once it's activated in the Generic Patcher, use the Options File Editor Viewer to activate in the UI.:yep: SORRY :oops: I'm too slow at workin' fast!!

Just for those people with weaker computers...If you are experiencing random CTDs, try to turn off the patch for increase rendering distance of units or try to lower distance on 60km...It helped me and I'm running WoS on Dual Core with 4GB RAM...:sunny:

Does anyone happen to have backups of SHCollisions.act and SHSim.act? I forgot to make any and am now kinda screwed. If nobody has any I'll likely have to reinstall the game.

Thanks man. I ended up having to reinstall anyway after discovering a host of other problems, but I do appreciate that you went to the trouble to upload these. Hopefully someone else finds them useful.

Thank you:) this is very helpful but heads up, For me a lot of images have An X instead or a message from media fire saying the image in unavailable.

OK< PROBLEM SOLVED, NOW I KNOW HOW TO DO IT :-)
Step4 - use the patcher
double click on "GenericPacter" to open it
select file - open
Point it to - C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\MODS\TDWpatchv1.067
Generic Patcher tell me, that cannot find neccesery files... :-(

say ok to all the warnings - I don't see any .s5p files, but lots of "file doesn't exist" warnings, what I do wrong?
You see, I do something in bad way, but have no idea what exactly,
probably this is easy, but I don't understand.
