View Full Version : tribal DD ghost bug?

ok todays pre 4th of july gaming i encountered a weird issue. the tribal DDs seem to be ghosts. this was an early war patrol IE 1939-mid 1940 and i found a small convoy of 4 merchants and a couple of destroyers. well when i fired my torpedoes before 1 could get to the target a tribal passes in between the eel and the target and the torpedo is going to hit it well the torpedo passes right through yes right through and continues to its initial target. upon this happening i decide to test my theory out and praying i am up against novice crews i surface. i am spoted and the escorts come over to kill me. of course part of this test was telling my guys to shoot the deck gun at the tribal. well the shells are passing through as well ( i know this because i external cammed the tribal). so now the tribal decides to ram me. well the tribal passes right through me and upon which the machine guns get some nice shots at me and do damage.

upon this i exited out of the patrol considering i would have been dead anyways despite a would be exeption to my D.I.D. rule. now i load up the scapa flow single mission to test it yet again and i know a tribal is in there same results.

so in short the tribals cant get damage but their guns can do damage to me. does anybody know how to fix this issue? i have no mods affecting the tribal destroyers other than an inertia mod created from stieblers peramater app..

Hi Desertstriker,

I created a single mission to target Tribal DD's and spent much of the morning attempting to reproduce the problem you are experiencing. (I used GWX 3.0 files and the Thomsen/Stiebler inertia mod you refer to.)

I was unable to reproduce the 'ghost' effect you refer to during my testing. During my testing I scored numerous hits with both magnetic and impact pistols.

(I did have numerous torpedo failures, thanks to HSIE's realism fixes... but that's another story altogether... and is the good kind of frustrating.)

I'm sorry that I couldn't help you better.

i am wondering if it is caused by one of my other mods:hmmm: one that i might have forgoten affects the tribals. going to deactivate all of them and see what errors come up.

Open the tribal dat file with S3D.
Then open the tribal zon file with S3D.
If the zon file is correct you'll know.

ID conficts can cause this type issue.

ok the .zone opens after the .dat no problem. so unless it would not have opened if there was an id error i don't know.
