Hi shipmates,
I want to remake a more modern version of U-boot lied with symphonic orchestra and choirs but i cannot find the sheet music for it, so if anyone know someone who have it please contact me via pm.
Doing it only by ear is way to painful so any help will be greatly appreciated.
Best regards Hans

I know of 5 more or less different versions...
http://nsl-archiv.com/Tontraeger/Musik/Bis-1945/heil.php search for u-boot
Wouldn't be the biggest problem to get the lyrics once you picked a version...
P.S.: If you pick the first there (http://nsl-archiv.com/Tontraeger/Musik/Bis-1945/Kriegsmarine%20-%20Das%20U-Bootlied%20-%20Version%201%20(2m%2059s).mp3), the lyrics will be here:
http://ingeb.org/Lieder/vomkaleu.html
I can't help with the music itself

Hi Danasan,
Thank for the quick reply but the one i am looking for is the hardest to get by since it is ban in Germany and here the original title : Die Stunde hat geschlagen and some also call it U-boot fahren.
It was compose by Kurt Rasch /Alfred Schneider.
I think i will be out of luck on this one!

That song isn't even in the archive I referred to... :o
I always thought it's the most complete on the internet for stuff like that and for being hosted outside Germany, it would not be banned there.
Well, lyrics should be here:
http://ingeb.org/Lieder/ubootlie.html
Edit: It is there (http://nsl-archiv.com/Tontraeger/Musik/Bis-1945/Kriegsmarine%20-%20U-Boot%20Lied%20-%20Version%201%20(2m%2029s).mp3), but that doesn't help you at all...
Edit II: Can't you just run the mp3 throu an audio editor and polish it there?

Hans,
There is a copy in a Library in Denmark.
Follow the link and select "See where the item is available".

Now if one of our friends near there could make a visit?
You'd be all set.

Hi Danasan,
Thank again but i don't need the lyric only the music sheet because i want to compose a more symphonic version of it with modern sound.
Best regards Hans

Hi Jeff,
Thank for the tip since we have someone on our site living not so far from Denmark so he might be able to grab it but Square steelbar just gave me a ebay link for the music sheet and it is dirt cheap at 5$ US so if i am lucky i will be able to get it from there.
Best regards Hans

Hi Square,
Wunderbar my friend i hope i will be able to grab it before someone else do it.
Those great melodies need a remake with modern instruments since most of them sound really bad.
Best regards Hans

Hi Jeff,
Yes i saw that after you mention so i went on reproducing the song note by note and i am almost done but the tone of the song is harder then i first thought to adapt to a modern orchestral vst, i change the tempo and slightly modify the chords progression but still sound strange, maybe because i am to use to listen to the old mono noisy recording!
I will probably use at least part of the melody in some ways as a tribute to the original song.
Best regards Hans
