Question:
Does the game engine handle or render high-res textures?
Looking at doing some re-texturing of game content.
Before i waste my time with scaling of re-textures.

Yes.
There is alot of textures out there. I'd look to see what you can find first. You might be surprised.

Indeed. I'm aware there are a lot out there. But high-res?
Haven't seen too many...
I would imagine the game engine can handle basic rendering duties but if one was to bump up texture rework to say, double or triple, it would not be pretty.

There are quite a few high res tex out there, for sea floor uboat skins and other things.

A newer system with lots of ram and the 4 gig stuff will allow alot of high res textures. Be warned that a large convoy can still drop you to your knees in a heart beat if all textures are high res!
Rescaleing the textures does not give you high res by the way.
Speech about x64 systems?
