How to make any AI ship playable?

Dear Community,

I have been looking everywhere, and seen a lot of questions, topics and answers, but none that really said how to make a, let's say, ocean liner/passenger ship playable in Silent Hunter 3/III?

So, I'm asking for a simple tutorial/guide on how to achieve this :), as I tend to sail with the ocean liners and avoid submarines ^^
