View Full Version : New "No Ship Reflections" mod
Hi,
Taken the idea from old 2010 mod by ddrgn and HanSolo, this mod get rid of boats water reflections not realistic with fog ingame.
Water reflections aren't fog affected in SH5, and we can follow a ship in fog just by its water reflection.
This cheating as seen below is gone with the mod:

I can make it for all the ships presented in the game now, I mean in OHII..
In two versions - with and without HunSolo's funnel smoke.. in my opinion FXU funnel smoke looks not realistic.. and FXU smoke is the same for all vessels..
If you need it, of course..

Your mod is incompatible with "RPM Hydrophone merchants .."
We can fix it.
You mod has default values: "MAX_SPEED", "max_force" eng_power, eng_rpm "(inside .sim files), overwriting my mod.
Then my mod no longer works.
We can work if you put the correct values of my mod into yours. Without affecting your mod.
I can give you the correct values by Private message. These values do not change core values of your mod.

Just finished revision of Sea folder.. that's weird, I counted 98 objects for editing.. in the Fifi's mod just 67 :hmmm:
Because i didn't include Japanese boats (they are many) nor all others sea objects (buoys, mines...)
I'll add all japanese boats soon, then. But little sea objects can keep reflections imo.
I don't know if reflections can be just tune down, because it's value is either 1 or 0...
Maybe 0.5 could tune it down? :06:

Do you make the mod for the game SH5 or for the mod OHII?
Install all your mods
Open main game folder SH5/data/Sea
There are all the ships what you should modded.. not in the OHII, not in the any other mod..

From old 2010 mod by ddrgn and HansSolo called "No Ship Reflections incl EFS 1.2" , i updated it for OHII Full v2.2 and deleted the enhanced funnel smoke for FX Update users.
Fifi, I didn't checked all the ships.. just checked several.. how have you deleted enhanced funnel smoke? those ships I've checked still have funnel smoke by HanSolo :hmmm:

Deleted the Library folder containing the funnel particules of HansSolo, that's all :)
Just kept the Sea folder where all boats without reflections, and added all missing ones i found (in OHII, and lately in all SH5 with mods activated as you told me -just very few missing)
I have yet to update first link (not compatible with RPM hydro mod) with few missing and japanese boats :D
Total is 75 boats folders (on 151 with all mods activated) where i found water reflection. All others folders can't be reflection adjusted (except mines/buoys...)
I'm sure i don't have the EFS anymore, cause ingame all my smoke are different now...
And better way is to make mod from scratch.. don't use previous others editions..

It's not enough.. you should switch smoke controller fom one smoke to another in every .sim files..

No.. you steel have HanSolo's smoke because funnel_smoke.dat included in OHII.. and most of .sim files still controlled by it.. and even if you'll remove it too, nothing changes.. just most of your ships will be without any smoke..

When you removed particles_funnelsmoke.dat from the Library you changed nothing..
Most of your .sim files have controller - funnel.. at the moment these controllers are tied to the file particles_funnelsmoke.dat and not to the stock particles.dat..
You should switch each funnel controller in each .sim file to the stock particles.dat..
OHII contains HanSolo's particles_funnelsmoke.dat.. and most of your ships still have HanSolo's smoke..

It doesn't changed anything because all the changes were did long ago and you have changed nothing in the funnel controller..

Decided to back up HanSolo EFS 1.2 to the mod, to avoid any eventual smoke problem, and to solve my incapacity to edit all those files in relation with OH :nope::haha:

Because your initial mod was outdated and contained outdated file - particles_funnelsmoke.dat..
OHII contains newest one..

nothing wrong except i prefer the the version without EFS mod :)
I don't know if it's the vanilla smoke without the mod, or FX Update (?) but it's lighter and less brownish on my rig. Looks more realistic to me, even if it's not a big deal...
EFS is a bit overdone, and smoke is too easy to spot on horizon to me. But it's only a matter of taste!

So, forget about first attempt using old mod (No Reflections incl EFS 2.1).
I don't use those files anymore.
Starting from scratch, i'm taking all boats i have in my game with my mods activated, and delete manually all water reflection found in their .sim file (when any).
Only the OHII additional ones will obviously keep the HansSolo smoke, as they were made with it, and using it as before.
It has to work fine this time, and first test on my rig seems ok (boats who lost smoke before get it back, and smoke is back to lighter black/grey color for the ones not OHII affected)
EDIT:
New and last version updated on first post.
Mod is working fine now, and Macardigan tested it with RPM Hydrophone Merchants 2.0 without any issue :woot:
