Echolot or "depth finder" function fix?

I got SH5 when it was released and played with lots of mods including TDW's long-running Multiple UIs series. But no matter what, the ability to get a depth reading didn't always work. Has this ever been fixed in a single mod? I'm trying to avoid having to get a huge mod collection just to address this one issue. Any ideas?

The depth under keel issue was fixed with update 1.2:up:

Thanks Trevally. I could have sworn it still didn't work intermittently but maybe some mod interfered with it.

just a note - you can't get depth under the keel when TC is higher than 32..

I just used times compression but slowed it down again to x1 and tried "depth under keel" and got no response. What I am trying to say is that I asked for depth under keel while there was no time compression, but got no reading.

No.. it's mean that you can't get depth report while TC is more than 32..
Don't know why this happens in your game.. I always get depth report if TC is lower 32..

Hey guys,
Im having the same problem.When i ask for depth under keel i get the "Ping" sound, intermittently im told the depth, but most of the time not. And it doesnt appear in the message box, so i havnt a clue if its safe to crash dive or not!:o
The problem is also there when i change speed, some times im told what speed im doing, most of the time im not.
As both faults occur at the same time, i can assume they are linked.
As Letterboy says, is it possible a Mod is causing the issue?

ps, i dont use time compression, so thats not an issue.

Any help at all gratefully recieved.

Hi all!
Before continuing my career, I try any historical mission and I demand the depth under the keel and I always have a value, then immediately I finish the mission and I load my career and so I am always given the value of the depth with the TC never> 32.
I do not know why but doing so I have never surprises.

Hey Torpedo,
That works, i dont know why it works but it does.
Its abit of a pain to do it before every mission.
Also noticed i lose the sound sometimes after auto game save,

Sorry for bumping this old thread, but...

..despite my game being patched to v1.2, I still get this bug.
I'm glad I found a fix in this thread (load a hist.mission, ask for depth under keel, exit mission, load & continue my campaign), but I wonder if there's a real solution found by now?
