I made this thread to be a haven for the gun related, so I do appreciate the irony that Neal had in putting my name to what has become the gun thread. Consequently, I would love to see it locked, but am well aware of the fact that that is no reason to do so. Moreover, should it be so, 10 threads will pop up in it's place, so it appears that it will have to be something that I will have to live with on this forum.

Look, I'm always open to discourse. I like you. Congratulations on your 'promotion'. It's a good thing, although I think you will find that you have considerably fewer friends in the long run. In light of recent posts, this thread it seems, was originally designed to make fun of, and mock, people who own guns, with malicious intent, as opposed to tongue in cheek. In my state, nearly half the population owns one or more guns, including myself. So It does bother me a little, but hey, the First Amendment is just as important as the Second. We can't pick and choose.

Anyway, looking at the point of this tread in context with Tak's recent comings and goings, and It seems obvious he's bent out of shape over something. Probably guns. If it is guns, the whole "90% of american's want" gun control or improved background checks or whatever, is a fallacy simply because 90% of American's can't agree on anything. Recent polls on the issue bear this out.

At this point, you (and I), may as well accept that the Taks we knew is no longer. His online persona has clearly changed, and this is not the same person. Accept him/it for what it is and move on. Besides that he's probably the best "forum warrior" on this forum, so you'd best pick your fights carefully and have all your facts and references on hand if you decide to have it out. Moreover, it doesn't do anyone any good to make the issue even more polarizing and divisive then it already is.

This specific type of personal belief is what makes up someones core person; and when you get down to that, it will always be espoused upon, defended, and elaborated upon. It won't happen because people don't want it to happen, and that's just wrong. Think about it. Everybody in the whole gun thing, myself included, has been making the same post over and over again since December. Why? Why does it have to be that way?

I think it's the core belief thing. When someone believes in something that is at the center of there character or belief system, and it's questioned, they'll feel compelled to "make it right", because it's tantamount to a personal attack. Just not directly, and not always consciously thought of that way. Armchair psychology, but it's the best explanation i can come up with.

Well, I'm not really looking for a lighter mood here. I think that this sort of thing is a real problem on these forums, and I'm serious about finding a solution.

What exactly, do you see as the problem? I've gathered that your not just pissed off about guns, but something about the forum in specific. Instead of beating around the bush, why not just tell it how it is? If you ruffle some feathers, well, that's life.

I have to admit, the thread title, and the intent behind it, i found somewhat provoking, Although, I didn't allow myself to become butthurt over it. I even posted a few funny pictures myself, but the brand of humor they were, was not in line with the threads intention.


Now if you'll excuse me, now that I've weeded and mowed the front yard, swept the back porch and cleaned the slider, went to the groccery store to pick up some items for dinner, reloaded 100 rounds of 9mm for maybe going to the range tomorrow, did the dishes, threw some laundry in the washing machine, walked the dog, checked the mail, vaccummed the house....... with beer in hand, im going to go play some Skyrim now.

Is one of them that little smithing mod from a long time ago? I used to use that prior to Dawnguard, and I miss the weapon melting for ingots feature.

Yup. I found it best if i just completely redo said mod. With the additions Dawnguard and Dragonborn made to the game, it made some items redundant. Such as arrow smithing. I got annoyed seeing two recipies to make the exact same thing in the forge menu. Another thing that i found annoying was that "Advanced Armor's" got entirely too much emphasis placed upon it. Prior to the Dragonborn DLC, there wasn't too much reason to go on the left side of the smithing tree if you were primarily using heavy armors. So i balanced it out by adding choices to what you can craft. After dragonborn, there was entirely too many reasons to get advanced armors, and little else.

So what i have now, is on the assumption one has both dawnguard and dragonborn. (if you don't id recommend getting at least dragonborn, its pretty good,).

In my readme file for my own reference thus far is this: (this isn't final, just what i've done up to this point, and does not require any DLC, i just didn't add some things on the assumption one has the DLC's)


//smithing tree/perks

- added missing armor/weapon materials to steel smtihing. (iron, wood, banded, etc)
- Steel smithing renamed to "basic smithing"


// New Armor recipe

- Fur armor now craftable.
- Light steel armor, close to elven in armor value.
- Stormcloak factional armor now craftable.
- Imperial officer helmet and studded armor now craftable
- Lorica Imperial armor. Orish equivlant, needs advanced armor or orcish smithing to craft.
- Stormcloak Warlord armor. Scale equilvant. needs advanced armor to craft.
- Skyforge Light and heavy. "Ancient Hero" armor and shield. equivlant to orcish, but lighter


// New weapon recipe
- Hunting bow now craftable.
- Silver longsword and greatsword now craftable.
- Helheim battleaxe (requires skyforge and arcane smithing)
- Wyrmslayer (requires skyforge and arcane smithing)

// Misc recpie
- Lockpicks now craftable

// Smelting
- Can smelt standard two handed melee weapons for ingots.


Of the new armor I added.

*Light Steel armor. what this is, is the steel cuffed boots, nord guantlets, steel helmet sans horns, mixed with a wiinterhold guards outfit. It looks really good, and like it should have been in the game to begin with.

*Lorica steel armor. Basically imperial heavy armor, (and flagged as imperial legion) that is slightly lighter then orcish, but of the same armor value as orcish. You have to have advanced armors OR Oricish smithing to make it. I thought this made sense considering Orc's in general by way of game lore, are renown for being legionnaires.

*Stormcloak Warlord armor. Stormcloak officer armor with an armor rating equivlant to scale. Requires advanced armor, and is considered factional armor.

*Skyforge Hero armor. Just upgraded versions of ancient nord armor, only I used the Ysgol's helm for the helmet model.

The real kick in the pants is the "Wyrmslayer" and "Helheims battleaxe". Wyrmslayer I used the ebony blade model, with the dragonsbane spell/effect. To be able to craft it, you have to have the "Awake skyforge" havinig finished the companions questline, AND you have to have arcane smithing. Having that, just go to the skyforge, and you'll need a blades sword, black soul gem, and a few other items.

Helheims battleaxe uses the rueful axe model, is not enchantable, but has a 25% increase of critical hits. (same effect as the lucky dagger you can get from elsewhere in the game). Same deal on crafting, base item required is a Nord hero battle axe instead of a blades sword like the wyrmslayer.

Probably obvious, that I have a hangup with two handed weapons at this point. :O:
