Anyone got any futuristic/sexy fictional subs for DW? I'm in a futurist mood.

The heck you mean "Sexy Subs"?

I don't know of any offhand....but that Akula is pretty damn sexy....and you can't hate the 688i

If you want a sexy sub, go back to the old fleet boats. :yeah:

Walked into those quips... yep, sure did.

I mean cool, futuristic subs. Fictional models and makebelieve.

For example. A model of the Manta would be really cool: http://www.thelivingmoon.com/45jack_files/03files/NAVY_Manta_and_Submadrone.html

Or concept submarines like below

I remember the Titan Superfortress and Blackshark mods for SHIV. Those were cool.

Cool designs, I especially like the Manta.

RA Mod makes that futuristic looking SSK from ACTUV Tactics playable and also has the 'Red October' with a working caterpillar drive, don't know of any others though.

That would work well with that outfit, wouldn't it?

A sub say twtice as big as the Typhoon, that can work as landing platform for fighters and helos? :haha:
Must be able to discharge to sea bottom :timeout:

or a sub that can deploy a helo? :D

Or the ability to launch a drone from Vertical tubes? :D

I dunno how sexy that is though :lol

With VTOL aircraft it could probably house a couple of fighters without being much larger than a typhoon. Maybe even the same size

Well there was this...The I-400 Class Sen Toku Japanese submarine that launched planes.

With the Harriers it should be easier now.. or at least to launch helos.. nothing like that today? :ping:
maybe its not interesting :timeout:

I dunno, a viable submarine aircraft carrier might be too technically complex and too expensive for too little practical utility in a contemporary threat scenario, it would be a hard one to realistically justify I think. Although, I think there would be a lot of mileage in submarine launched flying drones. Something small that could be fired from the torpedo tubes maybe(?).

But, an attack submarine that could also fly, now that would be something! :D

I seem to remember an ancient American TV series (black and white I think, maybe from the 60s???) that featured a US Navy(?) flying submarine, it used to be repeated in a kid's TV slot on Sunday afternoon British TV when I was very young back in the very early 90s (alongside such gems like the original 'Lost in Space'), can anyone remember the name of the show? I think one of the main characters was called Kowalski, and it was sort of similar to the original Star Trek but with an overdose of Cold War paranoia.... Oh, and the submarine had these huge distinctive windows - an observation deck - maybe in the bow I think, that the crew could peer out of and use to enjoy the under sea sights(!)... was pretty crazy, but it was one of my favourite shows at the time, although I can barely remember it now!

Yes, that's it!

We totally need the SSRN Seaview for Dangerous Waters!

Nuclear powered 'aquatic jet engine propulsion' capable of 40+ kts submerged speed, so you'll never be late for that important intercept again.

Regular nuclear tipped ballistic missiles, and experimental neutron bombs, for total strategic domination.

Anti-Aircraft 'Interceptor Missiles,' for dealing with those troublesome ASW planes and helos.

An 'Ultra-Sonic Ray Cannon' ideal for anti-sub work, and an electrified hull to repel attacking sea monsters. (Can't do that in a 688i!)

Plus, panoramic windows, so you can always see where you are going!

What's not to love? :D

If there's an easy way to do it, call some rednecks.

If there's an easy way to do anything...Rednecks will find it.
