Anyone got much experience with lining up textures on turms?
I'm trying to line up a cam on a VIIC Turm and have been fiddling around with it for hours now.
I get colours overlapping into other parts of the boat but to no avail.
Anyone got any tips apart from spending hours drawing red marks and testing ingame where those marks end up?
Example:

Just the turm part, minus the hull.
How to postion that 1 line of camo right?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Feuer Frei!

There is a way of viewing the texture using the relevant dat file in S3D - which means you do not have to keep loading SH3 to see the outcome of your tex file changes - will save you a ton of time.

I'm at work now - so I cannot experiment and post screenshots.
Full answer tonight when I get home - unless someone else beats me to it :D

S3D will not allow you to view the turm attached to the hull.
(Unless you build a special dat)

You could export everything and in a 3D program, import and place everything, then view the textures aligned.

Both ways need the skills and time to do it.

Quickest and easiest way is to create a texture with reference points and view in Game.

Something like this helps...........

On a side note, your turms seem kind of tall and narrow. Maybe thats the resolution of the image you've posted?

Cheers guys for your replies.
Looks like i'm going to have to do this the hard way.
Just thought there might have been a trick to make it quicker and/or easier in placing.
Like privateer mentioned in his pm to me, symmetrical files make it hard. You paint an area, and then other parts of the turm might be painted as well. That you didn't intend.
I've narrowed it down to a rough vicinity of where i should be painting to achieve success but because of the symmetrics of this file it makes it hard to isolate the spot completely, without having that paint on other parts of the ship.

@machiavelli: yep, it's the res of image, that's why it looks tall and narrow.
