Playing GWX 3.0 Gold at a very reduced resolution 1024 X 800 something on a wide screen (24" ) and all is working except the % hull damage-- which should be at the bow. Tried a few things and still no hull % damage.:subsim:
Is there a key stroke for this?? Speaking of key strokes that one of clicking on the SHIP as you view a ship and having the page flop open is GREAT.
Thanks for your help.

GWX removes this from SH3 by eliminating the text on line 589 of /SilentHunterIII/Data/Menu/en_menu.txt
GWX version = 589
To get it back, edit line 589 to return it to the stock SH3 version
SH3 version = 589=HULL INTEGRITY %s %

Or use the SH3 Commander check box to show hull integrity.
The quickest way and easily changed at the click of a mouse button.

I added SH3 Commander and went through the list of "changes " that could be done and selected " % Hull damage " to show from hide and after several depth charges from many encounters NO showings were noted.
So after that patrol I pulled in to the Spanish port of Cadiz to "re fuel and re load" and checked my settings. I did add a few minor changes to water clariety and wave hieght to see what that would look like -- AND then
my vision was GONE. Total mess of dark shadows when I attempted to leave the port area. Trying to save and leave was a NO GO so I had to use CTRL+Alt+DEL to exit and restard my computer.
Going bact to the leaving the base at Cadiz was just fine" inside the Room" but I could only get my visuals back by UNINSTALLING SH3 Commander and reentering the patrol again.
So, not seeing the % hull damage and having a minor issue has me wondering if I messed up or need some ADVICE from you folks.
I did down load the latest 2.7 SH3 Cdr.

First question, did you install the required GWX .cfg files in SH3 Commander?

Did you perform a rollback with Commander before rebooting the game?
SNAKE1937

I have no idea where or how to install the .cfg files in to SH3 CDR, or if they are really needed. LOTS of help here if I am going to find those and instal them.
Do I perform the Rollback just once before restarting SH3?
Or do I have to Rollback each time I exit the Game SH3?
And is this done just after exiting SH3 by "calling up the SH3 Cdr icon"
after exiting and performing the role back then.
Please keep helping, you folks are being very helpfull to this "old warrior" who will soon turn 76 and loves this game.:subsim:

In the SH3 options>General Setting screen you can set Commander to automatic rollback.
Take the 5 GWX .cfg files and place them into the cfg folder found in the SH3 Commander folder. When you place them in the folder, a message will come up saying these files already exist and asking if you wish to overwrite them. Say yes and the GWX .cfg files will be installed. This only applies if you are using GWX 3.0.
Start SH3 Commander and click on the wrench to get to the options screens, then do what Jimbuna said, and you will not have to worry about doing a rollback, it will be done automatically for you.:salute:

From the GWX website (available via clicking on my sig)
SH3 COMMANDER users: press the "Rollback SH3" button and exit SH3 Commander.
This will remove any modifications SH3 Commander has made to your Silent Hunter 3 games files. You don't need to remove SH3 Commander, but AFTER you have installed GWX3 GOLD, please make sure you are using the latest version (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=147237) and have installed the GWX3 Config files for SH3 Commander (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=147567).
JSGME users: disable all mods and exit JSGME.
JSGME will be re-installed when you install GWX3 GOLD. IMPORTANT - if you want to keep any mods you've used with JSGME, please make sure you back up your 'MODS' folder (default location is C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\MODS )
Open 'Add or Remove Programs' in your control panel, and remove 'Silent Hunter III'
Alternatively, you can use the un-install option on the SH3 DVD (on the menu that appears after you insert the disc).
Make sure the un-install process has removed the following folders:
The 'SilentHunterIII' folder in C:\Program Files\Ubisoft
The 'SH3' folder in 'My Documents'
If not, delete these folders. IMPORTANT - deleting the 'SH3' folder in 'My Documents' will delete your existing career files. However, an existing career will not work properly with GWX3 GOLD anyway.
Re-install Silent Hunter 3.
Apply the latest patch (1.4b) (http://www.ubi.com/UK/Downloads/Info.aspx?dlId=801).
If you need guidance on which version of the 1.4b patch to use, please read these notes (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/2881085392/m/7261080164).
Download the GWX installation files (http://www.thegreywolves.com/downloads/) to your desktop (or wherever you wish to store them).
You must ensure all 8 installation files are placed in the same folder.
Run 'GWX.exe' and follow the installation instructions.
If this is your first installation of SH3 (GWX must be installed on a clean installation of SH3) start from the third 2 Re-install Silent Hunter 3.

Hay Jim -- I have SH3 gold ( up to 1.4 ) and GWX 3.0 installed and working just fine.
Trying to read your instructions, it looks like it would have been best to install SH3 then SH3 Cdr and lastly GWX 3.0.
My question is--- I my case with the sub working very well with GWX 3.0
how do I add SH3 Commander ( Specificly and step by step Please).
Thanks:salute:
When you downloaded the file in Jimbuna's message:
GWX3_SH3Commandercfg http://www.mediafire.com/?c4oakjnc3tynwk5
You simply execute this file.
It will ask what language you want to use.
Then you get the opening screen, click next.
Following it will ask where to install it into. It should show a default location of where it expects where SH3 Commander is installed. However, if you have Windows Vista, 7 or 8 then it is not recommendable to have it inside the "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)" folders. If you can, please de-install SH3 Commander now from the Program And Features applet in the Configuration Panel. Give SH3 Commander a folder to live in that is outside of the Program Files folders. Because the OS is going to nag you to death with UAC about any file change SH3 Commander tries to do in there.
If you are sure it is somewhere else, then use the browse button to locate the folder where SH3 Commander is installed to. Click next when done.
Finally give the go-ahead, at the "Ready to Install" overview page.
The same Program Files blues goes for the game itself too actually. If at all possible, do not install the game into Program Files. Modding wil get quite anoying, or even iffy in succeeding.

My SH3 "gold" 1.4 is installed in C:\Games\Silent_Hunter3\
And I am running Win 7 Home Pro.
So will once again place GWX 3.0 in to C:\Games ..... as SH3.
Should I place all ( more than 5 by the way ) of the 8 parts of GWX 3.0
( 3exe. to the last one 6.bin ) in to a folder.
Then place all of SH3 Commander in to a folder.
IS this correct so far???
If so then I will proceed to install each in order and then set for the automatic rollback in SH3 Cdr.
Sure hope this works.

All is done to the best of my " non-computer guru " ability.
And so far all is OK, and my Hull % is in the correct place.
I can not find the "WRENCH" for auto rollback, but when I exit
SH3 it sends me to a small pop-up that ask if I want to use
SH3 Cdr to rool back and then I roll back there.
No big deal ( I guess ) but where is the "rollback wrench?
Thanks again:subsim:
Jimbuna

At the bottom of your Commander screen should be a wrench icon...clicking on that should take you to Options>General Settings and the second option should be 'Rollback automatically after exiting SH3'.
SNAKE1937
03-12-13, 12:16 AM
That wrench is no where to be found.
Looked in all of the nooks and crannys and edges of SH3 Cdr ans SH3 with GWX 3.0.
The game if going fine, my Hull % damage is just over the bow, and all systems work just fine.
If the only hassel I have is to click twice at the end of a session --- I can live with that.
One cool thing I did was to program a key on my G15 Logitech as the
"Fire Torpedo" key --- with only one finger.
Thanks for your help:subsim:

Look at bottom left of centre...if it isn't there then you've probably got a faulty installation.

My SH3 Cdr "opening Box" is "plain black and white" with out any of the colors that you 2 have.
Also there are very few of the options that you have ( ie. you can select no intro. movies, and of course "automatic rollback" )
I can, and have selected the % hull damage-- and it works.
It almost sounds as if I got the "budget Cdr model" where as you some how got the "deluxe one".
Should I start over? If so where? As of now SH3 1.4, and GWX 3.0 are working fine. Also the mod the sets up with that JSEG... "whatever" that has several small mods that can be "slid from the non active site to being active such as reduced port activity ( fewer ships) -- and that is working.
It is a puzzelment!:subsim:

Jim, thank you very much. The first link was the correct site for the SH3 Cdr that was the same as you two folks showen above.
It had the color, wrench for setting automatic rollback and other goodies
that my plain black and white lacked.
The #2 link did not work and in fact my antivirus warned of impending doom fro malware and viruses. A box poped up that had a micosoft cure
for those issues-- but I ran from that site ASAP and quickly ran a complete scan for any malware or viruses.
One of you "high ranking" folks needs to replace the "black and white" non working SH3 Cdr some where in the stickys with the first link in Jim's last post that looks like the correct on. It has an icon of a gold striped cuff of a naval commander, where as the B&W one's icon was a grey looking hat.
I'll report back after playing on how effective this all works.
The final question , is just how important is the contents of the second
link to playing SH3 ???:subsim:
Try this one
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=1421
It is hosted here on SubSim, so I know it is ok.
It is important to use the .cfg files if you use the GWX mod as it does change some of the interactions between the two.

Jim, thanks for all you have done.
The second link you sent me caused a warning of malware, but some how it was downloaded into "my downloads" any way.
I have not opened it yet-- thought I would ask about it first.
It is listed as ( Rocket_Download_Manager_Setup ) and I am wondering if any of you have seen this and if so is it OK.
Also, is it what is needed to make SH3 1.4, GWX 3.o and SH3 Cdr work better.
So far the ony thing not working is to start the game " At Sea " .
After docking at Lorient the first time gettig out of there took forever.
