Skyrim on PC

So, since I left my 360 home, I have had a hankering to play Skyrim on my computer. But I have some questions;

-Is it okay to buy off steam ? (Many problems with mods and such)
-WHat kind of specs are reccomended to run it well? With mods?

Im hesitant to get it right now because I already have it plus the first 2 expansions for it so I dont know if Ill want to pay for it again, however if my computer can run it much better looking than the 360 could and run it fine I may entertain the idea.:up:

No reason to not get it for PC if you can run it. The mods will keep the game

Well I use a Intel Core i7 3600QM @ 2.3Ghz
with a GTX 660M 2GB dedicated
and 16gb of ram. This is on my Asus Laptop si I feel like it could run it.

And thats definately why I might just get it for PC is for the Mods.

But by buying it off steam I mean is there any advantage to say getting a CD instead?

No, there isn't. The physical, as well as any other, PC version has to be registered on Steam to be played anyway.

One upside with a CD is that it would be quicker to install, rather than waiting for the download to finish. However there have been some updates since release.

Had two experiences with Steam and do not like it myself, due to the business model. Shogun 2 I failed to get run on three different systems, Steam was a total disaster in that case. But Skyrim on the other hand runs smooth with it, and also has not had any mod problems I am aware of. You can even manually add mods from Nexus, I did, and again had no issues with doing so.

But that is just academic. You have no alternative to Steam anyway.

You can update the game and mods once and then switch Steam to offline play, checking in just every cxouplke of weeks. That'S what I do. I avoid needing to wait before playing when Steam automatically wants to update the client or the game. I would also switch off the synchronization feature if you do not desperately need it.

I am not a fan of Steam, as that company has fubared up to of my games. Good thing I had the world famous Steam customer service to fall back on ... not.

Unfortunately, more and more games are falling under the steam cartel :/\\!!

I boycott steam now, and that means that I can't play many of the newer games. Maybe if steam changes their business model, I might consider coming back.

I hope you don't have my experience with steam. It sucks to buy games, have the physical disks, all the keys, and you are unable to play games (that I paid for), due to an unacknowledged mistake on steam's part.

Steam hasn't been a problem with Syrim (or any other game i own, and i have 120 on my steam account).

As for playing skyrim on PC, i don't think there is any other way to play it. The graphics will be better, and the ability to use and create mods is priceless.

As skyrim goes, once you go PC, you'll never go back to console. I'm pretty sure of that.

Same here. Have used Steam since HL2 was released (2004) and got 143 games.
Only ever have encountered small problems, like "Game is unavailable" during
some big game release that hammered the Steam servers, but nothing bigger.

I hear you loud and clearly. I'm boycotting them, too, I only made an exception for Skyrim - the only one. I probably will do again for any future Bethesda open world RPG. But for nothing else.
