View Full Version : TDW's UI ver 7.2.0 for SH5 Crash problem
Been having massive hard crash problems running ver 7.2.0 of this mod, no other mods installed, on a new installation of SH5.
Have tried on 2 other computers all with the same problem.
The crash happens on TORPEDO IMPACT, with SH5 not responding having to use ctrl-alt-del to exit.
Have used debug utility with last 3 lines reading as :
[2072] PDH: 1 destroyed contacts found. Checking for sunk ships...
[2256] SH_ServerOrbitProtocol.cpp (111): Failed to read packet from client.
[3572] ..\..\..\..\..\..\..\..\..\P4ws\massgate-MAIN\massgate\uplay_pc\2.1\live\shared\libs\servic es\src\services\GameKeeperImpl.cpp(261) : Product id '3' all processes terminated.
Just wondered if anybody else having this issue?
The specs are intel i7 920 @ 2.67GHz, 6.00GB RAM, ATI HD5800 series card, 64bit system, windows 7.
Hope somebody can help as this mod is badly needed.

this might help if you haven't tried it
goto - Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features
look for - Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable 9.0.30729.4974
if you have it - delete it
the only other thing I can think of is a corrupt download

I have just read the original threat, so what you are saying is he let go a torpedo on a German ship in game then the game crashed right that make sense.

this might help if you haven't tried it

Have tried all the above but installing this game on 3 computers lets out a corrupt download also i did realize about the mods in main folder.
Just out of ideas at present having spent hours on this. May have to go back to SH4, shame really.

We are not, but we cannot make a game bug into a feature... there should be other ways to punish trahitors, other than CTD's. Reward depletion, for example :03:
On a side note, I once thought that this was a stock game bug, but after reading various reports, it seems it could be related with TDW's UI :yep:

I know that this is a bit late in coming but I would keep trying. These problems are usually worked out because of something really simple. If the game was running, and it crashes because of a torpedo hit, then it might not even be related to the UI.
I use the 7.2 UI with no problems (I'm not saying this to frustrate, I'm just pointing out that it does work). Setting this up was another matter. I had to make sure that my patches (TDW's) were the correct version. If you are using the patches (and you should be as one or two of the principal patchs relate specifically to torpedos), which version of the patches are you using?
When working with these, sometimes the main .exe file can get weird (Corrupt). Sometimes a full reinstall will take care of it.
When I have a reoccuring crash difficulty, I will usually reinstall the .exe and manually delete it. This kind of cleaning ussually works.
I wish you good luck on this. Keep trying, the game is worth it!

Are you still sure that it was a BRITISH ship? Where exactly do you found that British ship?

Couple more questions:
Have you tried using no mods?
Are you testing with single missions?
What version of the TDW's SH5.exe patchesare you using with the UI? (Should be 1.0.74)
Did you download a new 7.1 UI? (it's rare but possible)
If your game says that your system has no problems then you should be very close. You get the same crash on three different boxes?! That would make it game related somehow.
Are you using a CD or Downloaded game? (I'm sure you have been asked this but I might have missed it)
There are several different missions with ships to sink, I would use these to test. If you have a CD, I would really do a thorough cleanout. Delete everything, all the SH5 folders. In other words, do a real full re-install.
I'm afraid that after doing an extensive search, the only thing that will cause the game to either freeze or crash during a torpedo explosion is a graphics card that tops out or (yep) hitting a friendly using TDW's UI. It's built in to the mod.
Anyway, I wish you all the luck. If this continues, post all your specs and you mod list as you would set it up. :salute:

2.Single missions used to test.
3.used 1.0.74 version.
4.The correct version used.

I would strongly recommend you to disable all the mods, clean all the folders out, re-install sh5 from scratch and try with JUST NewUI 7.1
After that - install the rest of the mods in the proper order and see what happens.
The reason is that you might have not cleaned off the 7.2 version properly and that is causing you trouble.
The other thing possible is the patcher: there are things in the patcher that enabled require some of the mods to be installed also: like magnetic torps fix, as far as I remember.

You are getting a bug that we all get when we sink German ships with the UI installed. Somehow you are getting it with any ship.
Im sure TDW will know what the issue is and perhaps look at the german ship bug too.

I have to Ditto both these quotes not because of torpedoes but because I needed to use a clean version of the UI and the patcher, when I thought I was loading clean versions of the UI, things got screwy because I still had the old versions in folders elsewhere in the computer and it would find those and keep loading them.
One other thing acecol which I'm not sure if it's been mentioned. If you are enabling/disabling patches, (from the TDW SH5 patcher) and have improperly disabled/ re-enabled patches, (it's really easy to do); the SH5.exe will not run the patches correctly ie; the game will not play correctly. So, weird problems such as this require a thorough, clean re-install and this ends up being a fix about half the time.

Well after extensive testing it appears i may have the answer to this torpedo problem.
The single mission "THE PEDESTAL" which i have been using for testing has an ITALIAN taskforce which i try to sink these ships & every time this crash appears, going past this to the convoy ships & guess what with torpedos NO crash. So i take it this is a bug or perhaps it just happens to me. Let's hope it can be fixed if it is a bug as it has certainly affected me to the extent of nearly giving up on SH5.

well, it is not one of the more annoying bugs (the worst part is probably convincing newcomers of it :D), nonetheless we can't confuse a CTD with a feature.
During the war it happened often that a friendly or neutral ship was sunk, and the game should take this evenience into account. I am sure there are better ways to punih us for our mistakes :03:

It is not the TDW's or other UI problem. IT IS A GAME BUG, THAT IS TIPICAL TO VANILLA VERSION WITHOUT ANY MODS INSTALLED ALSO. The most acceptable reason is the IMPOSSIBILITY OF COUNTING ALLIED (AXIS:))TONNAGE TO PLAYERS SCORE. F.e., you can fire 2 torps at german ship, and get CTD only after the 3rd torp hit, which is CRITICAL. In other words, CTD happens at the moment when the ship is 'killed' and the tonnage should be accounted....somewhere (this possibility is simply not included in game scenario by the developers).

It is not the TDW's or other UI problem. IT IS A GAME BUG, THAT IS TIPICAL TO VANILLA VERSION WITHOUT ANY MODS INSTALLED ALSO. The most acceptable reason is the IMPOSSIBILITY OF COUNTING ALLIED (AXIS:))TONNAGE TO PLAYERS SCORE. F.e., you can fire 2 torps at german ship, and get CTD only after the 3rd torp hit, which is CRITICAL. I'm afraid you are mistaken here, Vlad. IT IS NOT A GAME BUG. THIS BUG IS EXCEPTIONALLY BY NEWUI.
I remember, I practiced in torpedoing the German ships before I installed NewUI.
However, I decided to check it again.
